For a solo hiking holiday or a couple’s retreat, this ever-cosy shepherd’s hut provides an exceptional base for getaways in South Wales. Embrace outdoor living throughout your time here, enjoying morning coffee and sunset dinners with the instantly impressive view always in your eyeline. This elevated glamping property invites two guests to enjoy eco elements including a composting WC and solar-powered electric. Watch as the sun rises over the mountains whilst warming up by the wood burner indoors or enjoy evenings in the outdoor space, seeing the apple orchid trees glisten with fairy lights whilst the fire pit keeps you toasty.
There’s as much space outdoors as there is indoors in this property’s offering, so prepare to enjoy a breath of fresh air. The garden is a wide-open space with chickens roaming through and plenty of seating. You can then take a few steps up into the shepherd’s hut where a single living space sits amongst a bathroom with shower and composting WC. The main room has been thoughtfully laid out to fit a kitchenette, a seating area by the wood burner and a double bed. There are plenty of blankets and linens strewn around for getting cosy under as night falls, and the property’s lack of TV invites you to get stuck into a great book or simply chatter into the night.
On the western edge of the Wye Valley, not far from the England-Wales border, this property is well-positioned for walks and hikes in Monmouthshire and the Forest of Dean. Use the closest town, Monmouth (4 miles), as your base, setting off on several excursions from here and returning back to town to enjoy pubs and eateries on an evening. In the opposite direction, Abergavenny (14.5 miles) is a gateway town to the Brecon Beacons with superb surrounding scenery to explore.
