Dog Friendly Cottages In Rutland

Although Rutland is England's smallest county, it definitely meets the 'quality not quantity' approach! With plenty of activities on offer, from sports to the performing arts, a holiday here is sure to keep you busy.

For any watersports enthusiasts, a visit to Rutland Water is a must. Here you can take part in all sorts, such as sailing. If you prefer to stay on dry land, there is still lots on offer. With walking trails, cycle paths and even nature reserves, there is definitely something for everyone. Of course, an ice cream or a drink at the pub is needed to refuel! For a more cultural experience, Rutland has its own open air theatre which is home to a Shakespeare company. You can also explore the historic Oakham Castle. However you spend your day, a cosy Snaptrip cottage awaits you at the end.

What our customers say about their holidays

Leaving a 4-star review, really enjoyed our time here.

Great location and this is a huge static caravan with everything you could possibly need / want, including a couple of walk in wardrobes! We will definitely return, and are even considering purchasing something in the local area, it had a very positive impact on us. Whilst there was a lot of things that amazed us, I thought there were other areas of the experience that could definitely be improved upon, hence having to drop the 1-star. - I didn't feel connected to the owner whilst we were staying here. More specifically, we hadn't visited the area before and there was no local information made available about the area, or any kind of guide that had been left for us. It's always nice to have be given recommendations on what there is to do and see in the local area. A simple folder with local attractions would have been a nice touch - Or a personalised contact / email ahead of the booking. - Additionally to the above, and having spoken to a lot of the the local business owners on our trip, there is huge opportunity in affiliating with them to generate some local trade with holiday makers, and including in aforementioned "guide". The local Wheatsheaf pub is a prime example of this, something I recommend the owner to explore. Essentially, assume everybody is new to the area and this is your opportunity, as the facility owner, to give your impression and vision of Langham and the surrounding attractions. Oakham for example, is absolutely stunning and worth 1/2 - 1 full day exclusively. - Although the property is finished to a good overall condition, I think the master bed could do with a little attention. The only way I could accurately describe the experience, was like a waterbed. Any movement on one side of the bed would affect the opposite end of it, so any movement at all will disturb anybody else sharing the bed. - 4x people included on the booking, but only 3x full size towels provided. Small one, but had been overlooked. Tried to contact but phone number just rang out - No other support details were left, so we just had to accept it. - Very small one, but worth a mention - we had bin bags, but no bin carcass to put them in, so had to kind of hang it from the cupboard doors. Manageable but really there should be a bin provided. These items didn't deter us from our stay and overall we were very happy. Hope the owner takes the feedback constructively in the way that it was meant. Very minor adjustments, for what I feel will be a major gain to your guests.

We absolutely loved our stay at Manor View.

We visited for 7 nights with our two boys (4 and 5) and little dog, and it was perfect for us. It’s clearly an incredibly old house so it’s characterful and creaky, but with good double glazing, excellent heating, WiFi, a really lovely bathroom and good kitchen, so it felt warm and was easy to live in. I think the gardens / setting is nicer than the photos and it felt very private and secluded, and the views are really lovely. You can’t park outside, but we found it very easy to park round the corner either end of the little road, then wander down the alley but could be tricky for someone with mobility needs. We had a lot of kit with us so did journey back and forth quite a bit but absolutely fine for us. Our boys absolutely loved the little nook in the living room with a few toys and some books, and the TV had options for signing into Netflix etc. The only thing for us was that the leather sofas weren’t incredibly comfortable and looked and felt a little tired, and I would probably refresh a few of the kitchen items and upstairs furnishings, but everything was really clean, with nice soft blankets and towels and cosy (very bouncy!) beds. For us the cottage was particularly excellent value for money for its location, just 5 mins drive to Rutland Water. It’s about 15 mins to the nearest supermarkets in Oakham or Stamford but the little village shop a couple of mins away in Edith Western was perfect for grabbing anything we needed with exceptionally friendly staff! The village pub was also a delight with a good mix of people, good food and service, and very child and dog friendly. We’ve already recommended the cottage to friends with kids and we definitely want to stay again next year!

Highly dissatisfied with our weeks stay at church view.

Sofas are incredibly uncomfortable, luckily there was a tv in the bedroom, we spent evenings watching tv in bed. The hot tub added a lovely touch to our stay, however, this is extremely dirty and full of flies, when I asked the reception team for a net, they said the hot tub guy will be round to clean it and suck the flies out, he did come round to the lodge, unfortunately only flicking a few out. On our first night, we had a small issue with the plug in the bath getting stuck and we were told by maintenance team to simply use the public showers outside if this weren’t fixable, I was immediately taken back by this as I would have booked a camping trip at a cheaper price! We have previously stayed in other lodges on site which we were very happy with, as per our re visit now with a dog. Church view is actually a lodge split in half, divided by just a door with reception, I didn’t have a problem with this, as stated in the description upon booking, however, they charge just as much for this as they do for the other lodges. The worst part of our stay had to be the awful burning smell from the industrial building across from the lodge, this is super intense and meant we couldn’t even use the garden, we were lucky to have a lovely hot week (30 degrees plus), and felt VERY disheartened that using the garden was made impossible without coughing, not to mention horrible for our dogs health! Although, sitting in the garden was extremely uncomfortable anyway due to the wooden furniture, sunloungers may as well not even be in place, horrendous comfort! Cafe food is worth the star I have given, incredible food and reasonably priced. Won’t be returning!

Beautifully presented lodge, on a quite secluded site.

Only a short walk in to the village and a short drive to Oakham. The lodge was lovely and clean for arrival. The host provided a lovely welcome pack of tea, coffee, coffee pods for the coffee machine, prosecco and fresh eggs. The lodge was extremely well equipped with tv's in both the lounge and bedroom, CD player/radio, Wi-Fi access and a well equipped kitchen, with induction hob, double oven, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine as well as kettle, dolce gusto coffee machine and toaster. Also provided was a cleaning hamper with cleaning products, washing up sponge, cloth and dishwasher tablets. The bed was extremely comfortable and a fan is provided for those warmer nights. The bathroom was well equipped with a over the bath shower which is both hot and very powerful, with plenty of towels provided and fresh bath robes. The hottub was fantastic, well maintained and hot for arrival and maintained daily during our stay. The patio area also had table and chairs with a parasol, sun loungers and a bbq. Despite other reviews about noise with this lodge being attached to the reception building we had no complaints, yes you could hear a bit of chatter and laughter from reception, I wouldn't consider it noisy, and this was only between 8am-6pm not early in the morning and late at night and we found it extremely peaceful. Will definitely be returning again.
