A little further to the east lies Ullswater, a lovely lake surrounded by mountains, where you can hire a boat, enjoy a lake cruise or take a guided walk. With great cafes, pubs, restaurants and shops, Cockermouth is a popular market town near to Keswick with plenty of history to discover, such as Cockermouth Castle, Jennings Brewery or catch a performance at the Kirkgate Centre.
