Particularly loved the open fire and generous supply of logs to keep us warm.

the garden was good and the local walks superb, especially in the valley. Close to Embelton and Newton beaches and easy access to A1/Alnwick it's really well located. The tower is a local attraction that for history buffs is worth a visit. A shield maiden and an Annandale Reiver would not normally have been allowed in, but this time we made it. We were there on the coldest week (-6+) so the little fire was on full tonk, but it was cozy nonetheless. The big bath could easily wash four nippers in one go too. Check out the new farmer's shop in Embleton too - it's got everything.

The position of the cottage is convenient for the A1, with easy access to local places of interest. We visited Alnwick, Amble, Alnmouth, Craster, Embleton and Beadnell whilst there. The cottage was cosy and the open log fire was lovely to come back to after a walk on the beach. Everything on one level was great as we had an elderly relative with us. Directions were good and we also enjoyed the little woodland walk all around the tower in site. A very relaxing, enjoyable stay.
