Guests say

Guests have praised Orchard View for its charm, spaciousness, and welcoming atmosphere. The property is well-equipped, offering a comfortable stay with a variety of facilities including a games room. The village of Parwich is friendly, with a local pub serving excellent food. The surrounding area is ideal for walks and exploring the Peak District. Some guests mentioned thoughtful touches by the owner, enhancing their experience.

Reviews consistently mention that the cottage is 'spotlessly clean', indicating high standards of cleanliness. The property's tidiness seems to contribute positively to the overall guest experience.

The property is situated in a peaceful village ideal for walking and exploring, with a good pub nearby. Its proximity to attractions in the Peak District is appreciated, making it a well-regarded location.

Many reviews highlight the comfort of the cottage, mentioning cozy rooms and comfortable beds. However, a few guests noted issues with seating arrangements for larger groups, slightly impacting the comfort score.

Facilities are generally praised, especially the well-equipped kitchen and games room. Some minor criticisms about maintenance and equipment, such as blunt knives and a broken tin opener, lead to a slightly lower score.

While guests have mentioned acts of thoughtfulness by the owner, such as a warm welcome and baked cakes, there are not enough references to gifts or consistent thoughtful gestures to accurately score this category.

About this property

A magnificent, Grade II listed, semi-detached farmhouse, located in the pretty village of Parwich, just a few minutes' walk from the village's traditional pub and only 7 miles from Ashbourne. Full of character and charm, the cottage boasts many original features such as old beams, fireplaces, mullioned windows and shutters, and offers a lovely sitting room with woodburning stove and cosy snug with open fire, along with a spacious garden in which to relax and unwind. Enjoy beautiful walks through the old village of Parwich, cycling on the nearby Tissington Trail or a sightseeing tour of the wonderful Peak District National Park. With the market town of Ashbourne within easy reach, this is an ideal base for family and friends to get away from it all and enjoy a break in the country.

The lovely old village of Parwich is surrounded by beautiful countryside and dates back to the Saxon times, although there is evidence of a Roman farm at Roystone Grange nearby. Parwich has a village green, public house and a church as well as a post office with a general store. Cyclists and walkers will be well occupied with the lovely walks and paths in the area, one of them being the Manifold Trail which follows the Leek to Manifold light railway. There are many pretty villages within easy reach. Ilam, Alstonefield and Brassington all have an interesting past waiting to be discovered. With so much to offer in the way of sightseeing and outdoor activities, this peaceful area makes a great holiday base for all ages.

The cottage was perfect for our family and had everything we needed. The village was lovely and we did some beautiful walks around the area.

We had a lovely weekend celebrating a 70th birthday, with 3 generations of family. The cottage was cosy and warm, made even better by the log burner. The cottage comes equipped with everything you need. Would definitely recommend food in the village pub, very tasty and massive portions. You may need to book a table. A great weekend!
