Guests say

Croft Cottage is a well-loved property set in the tranquil Peak District, offering a cosy and homely atmosphere. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen, and secure garden, ideal for pets. The cottage's charm and the surrounding countryside's beauty have been highlighted, with many guests expressing a desire to return.

Most guests found the cottage to be clean and well-prepared for their arrival. However, a few noted issues with dog hair and a broken hoover, suggesting room for improvement in ensuring consistent cleanliness for all guests.

The cottage is praised for its beautiful and quiet village location, surrounded by stunning countryside ideal for walks. Some guests were disappointed by the local pub's limited opening times, but the overall sentiment towards the location is very positive.

Guests frequently mention the comfortable beds and the cosy feel of the cottage. Some concerns were raised about the size of the cottage for larger groups and the quality of some mattresses, but overall, the comfort level is regarded highly.

While the kitchen is well-equipped and the garden is appreciated, there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as a non-functioning bathroom fan, a leak, and permanent exterior lights. Due to these recurring concerns, the score reflects the need for attention to these areas.

Guests have noted welcome gifts and the provision of essentials like milk and cleaning products, which add a thoughtful touch to their stay. However, it's important to note that such gifts are a kind gesture and may not be guaranteed for every visit.

Like some others, we did have a little trouble finding it but settled in really well once we did. We suggest clearer instuctions would be helpful, perhaps including a simple graphic / map. The property was very clean and well prepared for our arrival. There was plenty of storage space for our needs and, because we took sufficient provisions for at least a couple of days (until we were naturally going out), the lack of a shop within the village was not an issue for us. However, there is a shop in the next village (Winster), although we did not use it ourselves we understand it stocks most essentials. There are walks nearby the cottage with Dovedale a short'ish drive away. We also visited Bakewell and Ashbourne, both of which are close enough by car. The cottage provided a really cosy place to be, with everything we needed in the kitchen to cook. We only ate out once whilst we were in Ashbourne but, again, understand there are a couple of pubs in Winster that serve food locally. The pub in Elton has rather restricted opening (8.30pm on days when it is open) so we did not go there. As others have mentioned, we also found that the vacuum cleaner is at the end of its useful life in terms of power, which frustrated our final memories when cleaning. However, we had a great time overall and would recommend Croft Cottage to the extent that we are likely to return again in the future.

It is situated in a peaceful location with beautiful surroundings. The cottage has everything that you need for a lovely few days away and is spotlessly kept. It has a lovely garden with views across the fields at the rear with nosy cows that kept us amused. The only couple of things that we would like to mention are that you could do with some larger bath towels or ask guests to bring their own. Also we drove past several times, saw the gate and the sign however the picture for the cottage relates to the rear of the property. You explain there are several entrances perhaps put on the larger gate a sign saying its the main entrance to the property. We dont mean these as negatives because we loved your cottage and would certainly recommend it. Thank you for a lovely stay.
