Tunnel House is a delightful character property tucked away amid the colourful cottages that line the cobbled streets of the historic fishing village of Appledore. The property is accessed, as the name would suggest, through its own tunnel ! It has its own private courtyard and was built in the mid nineteenth century. Between 1874 and 1900 it was a language and music school. The lounge/dining area has a cosy wood burner for the cooler months and in summer the french doors can be opened onto the pretty courtyard area. The newly updated cottage style kithen has everything you need to prepare family meals, and a dining table and chairs to seat 6 in the living room. On the first floor you will find the double bedroom with family bathroom and shower over bath, plus seperate shower room with power shower, the further two bedrooms (Kindsize and a twin) are on the second floor.  The village of Appledore has great charm with interesting art galleries, restaurants, chandlers, Post Office and several character pubs serving a good selection of food. Fresh fish may be purchased on the quay, and fishing and boat trips are easily arranged, in season. The three mile surf-washed sandy beach of Westward Ho! and the market town amenities of Bideford are each within a ten minute drive, with the historic fishing villages around Clovelly and miles of magnificent National Trust coast paths a short drive beyond. On the opposite side of the estuary the beach resort of Instow can be reached in the season by a small walk on ferry.
