What our customers say about their holidays

  • Miranda - Verified booking

The Stables met every expectation that we had.

It was absolutely immaculate, homely and just perfect for a little getaway. The outdoor space is amazing and has been finished to a very high standard. We loved the hot tub and the wood burner. The personal touches of drinks, delicious cakes and treats for bear, were a lovely gesture. The Stables is in the perfect location, a short drive into Hereford. Where we shopped, had coffee at the Bookshop and dinner at the Burger Shop ( Both that we would reccomend). The Cross Keys pub across the road, is absolute must to visit, it really is like stepping back in time. With a real old fashioned push button till, cash is the only way to pay. So don't forget your pennies!!!!!! On the door step Aylestone park was ideal for our puppy to run off lead and meet new furry friends. Thank you Jarrod for your suggestions of biking and walking routes. We ventured to the Malvern hills, which was amazing we parked on the Camp carpark and enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the Malvern hills Hotel (dog friendly) before embarking on the hill climbs. We also visited Haugh Woods again only 15 minutes away, as part of the forestry commision it is both pathed and wooded routes. Thank you both Jarrod and Steph for your hospitality, your place is just perfect. I will be highly reccomending to all and will be singing about The Stables to whoever wants to listen.... We WILL be back. Miranda, Steve and Bear

On arrival at The Stables we were very impressed with the overall set up.

The accommodation was very clean and well presented. Outside area has been very well thought out and the Dog wash station was a welcome addition considering we have Springers who tend to attract mud. There were a few niggles for example the security lighting outside which kept us awake most nights we were there. Maybe the addition of curtains in the bedroom would help keep the light out. Also the automatic lighting when entering the bathroom was rather annoying, especially during the middle of the night. Privacy when sitting in the louge was also a factor as other guests were parking outside our property to load and unload their belongings and could see straight in. The main gate to access other properties was outside the main window, again crating issues of privacy. We had a major issue with the electricity being cut off whilst there which we were never notified about. It went off whilst i was in the shower without prior warning. We contacted the owner who informed us they were only told about it the previous day so a little courtesy would have been appreciated. Taking all this in to account I don't think we would return to The Stables.

    The views are breath taking.

The owner is not intrusive and she's lovely. The pool is big and warm when the sun is out. Perfect for walks with the dog and large garden (bear in mind it is open). It is only a few miles from Gloucester so not too out of the way. Supermarkets and Gloucester Quay within 10 minutes. The rooms are spacious. A chest of drawers would be really helpful in the second double. We really did live out of the suitcase. The property description states there is a bath. There isn't. Not a major biggie but we only have a walk-in shower and was looking forward to it. The place does feel like it could do with a really good clean. Downstairs toilet seat is loose. The small fridge in the kitchen doesn't close properly as the seal has worn. I did advise the owner. But other people have mentioned it in the comments as well some time ago. The internet and phone signals are poor. Would I go back? Yes, but not in the high season, I don't feel the property reflects the price. However, if you don't care about the said issues, it is a beautiful area and the owner's friendliness really did make the holiday.

    Absolutely lovely cottage.

On a working farm, but you would never know. We did not go prepared for swimming, but wish we had done so. The enclosed swimming pool was clean and relatively private. Mattress not to our liking, but still slept well. A cottage with character....including the squeaky floorboards up stairs. Extremely well kitted out. TWO fridges was a welcome bonus. Did not try the open log fire on this visit, however we did need the heating on for a short time in the evening(s). WIFI/internet great. Welcome tray with homemade wine & bickies, plus fresh milk in the kitchen fridge (big thank you). Whilst September did not bring the best of weather, it did not detract from a brilliant stay. A minor disappointment was the inability to benefit from the extensive views from the downstairs windows due to shrubs being overgrown plus the patio area was not prepared for use (although weather was terrible in any case). THANKS MRS REEVE (?) , you have a wonderful retreat and we recommend it to any one who wants a comfy secluded holiday.

    Lots to like.

.comfortable bed, sofa, excellent shower and hot tub and thoughtful extras left such as quality soap, milk and starter packs of butters and jams. We agreed with previous comment that the TV was too high when sitting on the sofa. Other suggestions which would have made this a perfect stay for us.. Description should say c.30 yards from a busy road, we often had fumes coming in from the only opening window in the bedroom so also better ventilation would help. Duvet at 10.5togs was too hot for summer so a top sheet would help as an alternative. Curtain by door needed for privacy. Surprised at 5star rating when there was no dishwasher and washing up area was cramped. Mirrors needed in shower room and hallway and sensor lights turned off when in the shower! Wind triggered the sensored outside lights. Dustpan and brush or vacuum cleaner needs to be available to help keep the floor clear and in case of breakages.
