What our customers say about their holidays

  • Maureen - Verified booking

We had a splendid week at Bullfinch cottage, Kingsland.

It was easy to find, even though we weren’t familiar with the district, especially with its own sign at the end of the road. The parking space in front of the property was good. The cottage was delightful, immaculate, comfortable and with everything we needed to make us feel this was the place for us. The kitchen was well equipped, the dining area excellent and we enjoyed relaxing in front of the smart TV before repairing to the excellent bedrooms. It was really peaceful to be in the quiet depth of the countryside, while within easy reach of shops and towns. Every day we were able to visit a place of interest including Eastnor Castle and Brockhampton Estate and the jewel of the holiday, the Mappa Mundi in Hereford Cathedral. We can recommend Bullfinch as a tranquil haven as well as an excellent base to explore the region. Oh yes we want to return!!! Maureen

    Absolutely superlative.

Perfect if you really want to be away from it all. The roads are narrow, but largely without traffic, Pubs and Shops are a car drive away. Kington about 8 minutes away has fresh fish, veg and a delicatessen, All brilliant and The Swan Inn and The Boat good Pub Grub. Brilliant walks everywhere and really recommend Westonbury Water Garden. Ludlow and Ha-on-Wye well worth a visit. But the Mill itself is comfortable and extremely well appointed, first place we have ever been where we didn't have to buy a cork screw, it even had a toast rack! The hospitality extended by Grace and Dick was exemplary, But all this is crowned by the abundance of wildlife on the bank of the river right outside the door! You must go to belief it.

We had a lovely, restful time in this peaceful cottage set in the countryside, surrounded by fields, orchards, birds and sheep - I would certainly like to stay here again.

The cottage had all the necessities and was beautifully clean, the bedding and towels were very good quality. It felt like a real home from home for us two friends who live at opposite ends of the country to have a peaceful catch up, good walks and good food. The fresh eggs, doggy treats and a hand written note were a most kind thought. There are low beams of course, as to be expected in a building of this age but they were no problem. There are some good walks on Hereford Lane and other minor lanes nearby - the walk to Shobdon Arches is a real treat (as is the food at The Bateman Arms). Be careful if walking on the A4110 and B4362 though - there are no verges and the traffic goes at a rush.

Excellent cottage in a great location.

The barn has been tastefully renovated and really comfortable with all the things you need for self catering. As well as the under counter fridge, there is a tall fridge/freezer in the utility room which gave plenty of food and drink storage for New Year celebrations!!! There are plenty of areas to explore within 30 minute drive, or further afield if you wish. Also lots of shops within a 15 minute drive in Leominster or Tunberry Wells. Pleasant communications with owner via text. We had a brief water outage after a burst mains and the owner was quick to make sure we were okay. The guest book is full of glowing reports and I can see why. Highly recommended!!!

  • David - Verified booking

The only disappointment for us was that we were unable to stay at the property for the full 7 days due to a family medical issue, but the 4 nights we did stay were lovely.

It’s incredible value for money first and foremost, plus it’s very quiet with lovely views across farmland. We loved the field next to the cottage to exercise our border collie before going out for the day and we also liked the convenience of being able to park right outside. We visited Croft Castle, Berrington Hall and Brockhampton Park… all National trust and beautiful and Queenswood Country Park which our dog loved. The area is wonderful too, Ludlow is a gem with its market 4 days a week. Highly recommended if you want peace and quiet in a comfortable relaxed setting.
