About this property

Haworth 1.5 miles. Resting on the outskirts of the charming village of Haworth in the hamlet of Stanbury, West Yorkshire is Old Bar House. This unique, stone-built, end-terrace cottage is suited to a couple, a small family, or friends, and is conveniently located within reach of local amenities, while enjoying countryside views and interesting features throughout, including a standout stone, spiral staircase and stained-glass windows dotted throughout the property. Inside, the ground-floor hosts a kitchen, perfect for a self-catering break, with a handy washing machine to freshen up your clothes and towels. From here, the living/dining room provides a space to unwind, with a TV and lovely views, and a dining table for four guests to savour breakfast before heading out to explore for the day. When you return and are in need of rest, climb the fascinating staircase to the first floor to find a double and a single bedroom, each with Jack-and -Jill access to the bathroom. Completing the interior is the bathroom where the character continues with beams lining the ceiling and a corner bath to soak in. Stanbury is a small village with several pubs that serve food and a small park. Scenic walks to Bronte Waterfalls and Top Withens are just out of the door to your left and are well signposted, ideal for dog walkers. Ideally situated within reach of the delightful Haworth, you will be spoilt for choice when it's time to eat; Cobbles & Clay is perfect for a light bite, while a little further away you can find an inviting bistro, Pavé, for a meal before discovering the local microbrewery, Haworth Steam Brewing Co. Literature lovers may want to take a visit to the Brontë Parsonage Museum, you will be in Brontë Country of course, followed by a leisurely stroll around Central Park or further out of the village to Brontë Waterfall. History buffs can spend the day at Cliffe Castle, or for a fun-filled afternoon, book in at Huntfun Keighley for fast-paced problem solving. Ogden Water Country Park lies further south, making for a lovely day out amongst nature, or you can head north to the popular Yorkshire Dales National Park for an endless selection of walking and cycling options. Whatever your style of adventure, choose Old Bar House.

The small village of Haworth was home to the famous Bronte sisters, who were inspired by the surrounding moorland to pen their novels, which have become classics of English Literature. Haworth is a village that time almost forgot, with its myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, all set against a framing backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights as wild, rugged and barren. Nearby, the famous Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, provides a lovely day out with a regular service to the old village of Oxenhope. The area abounds with popular places to visit, including the Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the National Railway Museum in York. The market town of Skipton, often fondly regarded as the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is just a short drive away, and also within reach are elegant Harrogate and vibrant Leeds and Manchester.

It was very clean. Lots of welcome items , a lovely Christmas tree to make us feel festive. The beds were comfortable, the cooker was a luxury to use and the views were fabulous. This cottage is the perfect base for so many stunning walks and for 3 pubs ! We will definitely be back, thank you so much for a great stay .

As soon as we walked into the property it had a welcoming atmosphere. Everything was provided, and more, for our stay with beautiful views from the front of the cottage. Situated within a very short walk to a choice of three pubs. Also, a great location for longer walks. Good communication from the owner prior to our visit making it a stress free experience. Also had the privilege of meeting the owner who couldn’t have been more helpful. Thank you very much. We hope to visit again sometime.
