What our customers say about their holidays

Located at the end of a nice quite cul de sac is this lovely bungalow with gated private driveway.
Really easy to find. The garden at the front is fully secure to ensure pets cannot get out. There is also a gate by the garage in the front garden that leads to a footpath that will take you into town. The rear garden is nice and private with benches and seating, please note that there is a stream that litteraly runs along side the garden and bungalow with a steep drop down to it, bare this in mind if travelling with small toddlers, however if your pets love the water then this will be ideal for them as you can get access to it further down the garden. The bungalow itself was nice and spacious, evrey room was huge, the fact that the kitchen, dining area and living are in a u shape config was a bonus. The living room tv has full sky + HD with most, if not all the channels including the movie channels, also has Netflix. The kitchen has evreything you need, Washing machine was useful after getting muddy on the walks. There is also a heated clothes dryer in the cupboard. The shower was nice and powerful and spacious. The bedrooms are large with plenty of cupboard storage. The mattresses are quite hard on both the double and single beds although this wasn't a problem for us. I think they are memory foam. The single beds are smaller than standard and not really suited for tall adults, unless you want cold feet :). There was lovely fresh flowers and a nice bottle of wine with cheese crackers upon arrival wich was greatly appreciated. Also note that there is very little/no phone signal in the bungalow but there is good fast WiFi and a land-line available. The Welsh coastal path is is only a 5 min walk away, there is a lovely walk down the estuary and through the golf course and back along Newport beach. Top top* don't forget your wellies or shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. There is a spar in town for essentials but good luck getting bread, we tryed 3 days and there was no bread at all, alltho there is a large co-op and tesco express in Fishguard which is only a 10-15 min drive away. Or there is a tesco superstore in cardigan which is around 20-25mins drive. There is a few pubs in town aswell, I can't comment as I never went in any of them. All in all we would absolutely recommend this cottage and would return time and time again.

This cottage is in two halves.
The newer extension is lovely, large living room, comfortable bedroom, functional shower room. BUT the rest of the cottage is substandard for the money we were charged. The dated kitchen has a dirty, broken sink, the cooker is missing hob dial markings, the window sill grouting is grubby and there is no washing machine. Despite the owner saying there is no space to install one, there are plenty of empty cupboards where one could go. We had to drive to Newport and pay £20 for a laundrette service wash, then go back to collect. In 15 years of booking holiday rental cottages, we have never had one without a washing machine. The rest of the cottage smelt so strongly of damp and mildew my daughter and I got sore throats from it. She had to sleep in the twin room, but none of us could have slept in the older double room. The mould smell was so strong. The older style living room was dimly lit, too dark to sit in at night, smelt of damp and had huge dirty cobwebs all over the place. The stone fireplace was covered in thick cobwebs and home to spiders. It just didn't feel comfortable to spend any time in the room, so we didn't. The main bathroom had a broken skirting board hanging off the wall behind the toilet and cobwebs behind it. There was presumably an oil fired boiler in the locked cupboard in the bathroom as the whole room stank of fuel or oil. I had hoped to have a relaxing bath on holiday, but honestly couldn't have spent more than a few minutes in the room. We kept this door shut too. So for nearly £2,000 my family spent the week in three rooms which I don't feel is good value. The location was lovely and we enjoyed the river bank setting. The facilities offered for outside were on par with what we paid for, but sadly the inside was a real let down and disappointment. The house just isn't clean enough in places and the evident damp problem could be a health hazard for someone with asthma.

The four of us, myself, partner and his parents thoroughly enjoyed a really relaxing week at goldcrest.
We werenât allowed in until 6pm due to covid regulations being met, regarding cleanliness. That said, there were a number of areas where the standard wasnât met...dusting nest of tables, moving sideboard to clean floor and stains/drips on the woodwork beside the dining table. These were niggles, and didnât detract from the holiday. But these really should have been dealt with in the extra time that the cleaners had. The set up was great. Open plan so you could talk easily with each other, even into the garden, as you stepped onto a decked veranda from kitchen or lounge. Two great sized bedrooms, great shower and lounge area. We had a problem with the tv and the owners popped in within 30mins to sort it out. Both very helpful and friendly. Our dog really enjoyed the garden...and ran around it with joy! He really made the most of every inch! Newport is a gorgeous town which weâve stayed in 4 times now. Invariably we will return as there is so much in Newport and in Fishguard and Cardigan, which are both close by car. Unfortunately we wonât be returning next year, purely due to the increase in cost, for the same period. But we may well look at other weeks, as we all loved the property.

House is phenomenal on first appearance and does have everything required in terms of facilities, itâs very picturesque and the garden is lovely and well maintained.
It could do with a few improvements, the important parts were clean but lots of cobwebs and mould in the older parts of the house which I am not sure you expect when paying nearly £2k for a week stay. Also some of the windows were difficult to open, remote control difficult to use and had clearly been chewed by a dog. One of the bi-folding doors has issues when closing also. Had to have a handy man out twice due to issues with the toilet that apparently had happened before (although this was rectified very quickly after speaking to Sykes so no complaints with that). We were travelling with a baby so a lack of high chair, travel cot and washing machine wasnât ideal, albeit my fault for not checking before booking. Overall we had a pleasant stay and would go back. Itâs an ideal location for exploring South Wales and had lots of things close by. The house itself just needs a few tweaks, although this may sound petty they were things that impacted on our stay and could be easily rectified.

We had a fabulous time at Goldcrest and will definitely think about visiting again.
The property was perfect in terms of the proximity to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, and to pubs and shops. The property provided everything youâd need - the only thing lacking was a pair of oven gloves, but not sure if thatâs a âCOVIDâ thing. The owners were fantastic; a lovely bottle of wine and cheese crackers were there on our arrival, as well as a vase of gorgeous flowers (itâs the little things that count). We also had a problem with the shower of which we notified them and literally the same day, the plumber arrived to repair it. We couldnât have asked for anything more. Being a bungalow it was perfect for my Dad whoâs disabled. We also loved the retro style of the house - itâs doesnât need to be updated, as a previous review suggested, clearly not aware of what retro means. Iâd absolutely recommend this property to anyone wishing to visit the beautiful Pembrokeshire coastline.
