What our customers say about their holidays
Val - Verified booking
1. As has been reported multiple times in previous feedback - the property was filthy upon arrival, despite having phoned the office in advance and having it apparently inspected before we arrived!
! Whilst the list of what wasn't clean is as long as my arm, my personal highlights include a dirty, soiled toilet, a bloody handprint on a photo frame, and a toothpick on the bedroom floor. Sykes did arrange for a cleaner to be sent that evening to clean the worst of it however this was not how we were hoping to kick start our holiday and completely ruined the first evening. Also, considering the view is a big selling point, the windows were filthy!!! It should be stated at this point, however, that I highly doubt this is the fault of the cleaners but the short amount of time they're given to clean the property. It's significantly sized properly with 4 beds - it can't be cleaned in a couple of hours. 2. The property was in a severe state of disrepair - we experienced much of the same things as previously mentioned in the feedback (which the landlord claims to have fixed!!). Numerous spotlights had fused, spotlights were hanging from their sockets, one door was hanging off its hinges, the whole property was in desperate need of being painted as it was downright tatty, the garage door doesn't close properly, and the en-suite bathroom flooded. 3. Parking is a nightmare. The claim that a family car can park in the garage completely baffled us. My daughter only just about managed to squeeze in her '08 plate Renault Clio which is by no means a family car. We were forced to park right outside the garage door, and the faulty door mentioned above opened one evening and scratched the car. How a holiday cottage for 6 can't provide decent parking for at least one car is beyond us. 4. Considering the price (especially in peak season!!) the property lacks some touches that would really make it spectacular. The balcony upstairs had only one small table and one chair when there's room for plenty! And the downstairs outside seating area wasn't very inviting. 5. This property doesn't take recycling into consideration. We were told just to put everything into a black bag that the cleaners would later sort. The cleaners barely have time to due essential cleaning let alone sort the garbage. Is it really acceptable in this day and age not to consider recycling? Whilst not all bad - the view was amazing (even if the tree had grown since the photo was taken), and the location was fab (10-minute walk to Parrog Beach), it's clear to me that this is seen as very much a money-making facility and the owners care very little about the quality of the property and the experience of their guests.

Carnorfa is a lovely cottage ideally located near the centre of the village with quick access to shops and pubs.
It's bit like a Tardis, looks small from the outside but very roomy inside. Basement has a bathroom with full bath and a small living room with TV. The entrance floor has the well equipped kitchen with a washing machine and separate dryer and a dishwasher. A large cooker with all the pots and pans you may need and a coffee machine. Pleasantly surprised by the welcome back - butter, bread, milk, etc. The fresh bread was fantastic! The living room had two sofas and an arm chair and a gas fire. The TV was a smart TV. Upstairs was a bathroom with a nice tub and a separate shower and two bedrooms. The top floor had sky lights with views to the sea additional seating and another shower room and a very comfortable bed. All the showers were pressure showers apart from the one in the basement which was electric. The street is a little narrow but there is enough space to park your car but remember to place the bin in the space when you go anywhere. Near by there are a few pubs - we tried them all and all had something different. Don't forget to try the cellar bar! We were there in early April and not everything is open all week at that time so make the most of going out from Thursday to Sunday. Day trip to St David's is a must along with was walk along the coastal path there. Stunning scenery awaits you!. Allow about 2 hours for the walk which is mostly flat except towards the end. Overall, Carnorfa is an ideal place to stay at and the property is modern and well looked after and equipped with the everything that is of high quality. You get what you pay for!

On initial arrival the house looked lovely.
Of course we had a run around with the kids who were excited to find which bedroom was theirs but once settled in, we realised that it isnât clean at all. In the en-suite there was mould and the basin was filthy, it was just grime around the plug which one of us saw when brushing our teeth, not really what you want to see. Under the basin lip was just thick mould and grease. The kitchen wasnât clean, neither were the utensils. We had 6 people which we cooked for after washing everything, to then find the dishwasher is broken and just caused constant issues. Some of the external doors donât lock properly, mainly the balcony door. You canât leave the doors open during the day and thereâs no windows in the main bedroom, so if you shower in the morning, by the time you get home, all the bedding is damp as it has no where to go! Not to mention the pillows were yellow from sweat, which we found when we stripped the beds before leaving. Overall, and for the money, we thought it was quite poor condition. It looks lovely in the photos, and itâs been renovated really well but if you pay a premium price to stay in a âpremiumâ home, personally Iâd make sure itâs gleaming for the next guests. Im undecided if I would stay here again. We stay around this area 4-5 times a year and Iâd say this is the only time weâve had any issues. Really disappointing. If you can get past all of this, itâs a stunning place to be visiting and to us, itâs becoming home.

Castle coach house is so lovely, beautifully finished with lots of space and light.
There is a great utility / boot room which helps keep all the mud out of the main house. The bedrooms upstairs have great proportions and yet feel very cosy, plenty of bathrooms! The open plan kitchen, dining and living space gives everyone the space they need. Sofas and chairs are comfortable. The different lighting options helps to make the mood right in the evening. Lots of classic furniture and trinkets to keep it feeling homely and interesting. The kitchen is well equipped. There are lots of games to be used. We absolutely loved the house. Couple of things to work on: maintenance of the washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, extractor fans etc is probably due. The sitting room area could do with a picture or two or a wooden dresser with the tv inside a cabinet, and get rid of the fender which takes up space and looks a bit odd. The enclosed garden wasnât enclosed as the gate is broken. Itâs also unfortunately a muddy bog which may be tricky to figure out as itâs at the bottom of a hill. I felt a bit sad being right next to lovely garden areas of the castle which have private signs on them all so you canât use them.

I was disappointed that the property had not been cleaned prior to our arrival and was not to the same standard of other holiday properties I have rented and expected.
There were cleaning products available, so I started my holiday cleaning the bathrooms! Unfortunately there was no vacuum cleaner or broom available to sweep the floors. Important when the property allows dogs to stay and it is expected to leave the property in the same state as arrival . I reported this the next morning at the local office. Unfortunately, no vacuum arrived during our stay, as was organised. It would be helpful to have more information in the 'useful information' folder on recycling/rubbish and how to leave the property on departure. The property did have a lot of extraneous objects, papers, letters etc., cluttering up the window shelves and drawers of furniture. This is a lovely property and we enjoyed our stay. It just needs a good sort through, removing unnecessary items and make sure the essentials are cleaned prior to clients arriving.
