Dog Friendly Cottages in Caernarfon

Caernarfon is a historic port town in northern Wales. Caernarfon Castle is one of the best examples of mediaeval architecture and is a must-see attraction, and there's plenty more to see and do. For a great family day out, try Gypsy Wood animal farm and park with a miniature ride-on train, or tour the Sygun Copper Mines. You'll also find loads of great areas for walks, like Beddgelert Forest and Gelert's Grove.

Here at Dog Friendly Cottages, we want your dog to enjoy your holiday as much as you do. That's why we have a great range of dog-friendly cottages in Caernarfon. For secluded getaways, we have luxury cabins with hot tubs and cosy fireplaces. For family holidays, we have modern barn conversions and airy farmhouses.

All our Caernarfon dog-friendly cottages are great bases for exploring northern Wales, including Gwydir Forest and the famous 'https:="" www.dogfriendlycottages.co.uk="" snowdonia-holiday-cottages'="">Snowdonia National Park — places that your pup will love running around in. For local produce, try fresh apple juice from the Pant Du Orchard, or fresh seafood from the port. Or, for a look at Welsh culture, try the Welsh Highland Railway or some of the local festivals, like the yearly food festival and Welsh Harp Festival.

What our customers say about their holidays

  • Susan - Verified booking

We have photos which speak for themselves.

The holiday cottage is a disgrace and is breaching, in our opinion, all advertising standards. To come back from a holiday where all your luggage and clothes reek of damp. The damp "twin" room has no wardrobes, just coat hangers from screws in the walls. Had to store clothes and retain in our suitcases in the very damp pantry. (Photos available) Also in the twin room, we met another guest, a snail crawling on the rug disgusting and very distressing. The next night we found another one on the wall behind the bed nearest the window. (photo available) This was removed pronto. In every room, reed diffusers have been placed to obviously try and mask the damp smell. The pantry ceiling appears to leak as we found water on the window ledge (photos available) after heavy rain and the ceiling is all damp. The cleaning of the cottage is non-existent, filthy in a word as photos illustrate. Garden is a mess; the lawn not mowed, roses are all overgrown over the arch and footpath as are shrubs when entering the pedestrian gates. A collection of chicken wire, old rusty iron bars and barbed wire are used in two separate places in the garden and add to the squalor of the place. not good for children or elderly persons (photos available) The outside brown waste food bucket is mouldy and has not been cleaned out, see photo of same. The whole place looks as if it has been fitted out from a very bad second hand shop. Furniture is ancient and worn, photos available. Curtains in the lounge are very badly stained, dirty and dropping to bits (photos available) The throws over the sofas were not clean. The bedding on the twin beds was grubby and mismatched, photos available of a split duvet and marked pillowcase. The duvet on the double bed was not big enough for the bed. The sofas and beds had black dog hairs all over them obviously where pet had been on them which I know is not allowed. Our pet was not allowed near any of the furnishings but previous renters had not adhered to this. But your cleaners should ensure all is good for next renters which was not done before our visit. This cottage is far from the standard I expect from Sykes Cottages having had numerous accommodations in the past.Where a hospitality tray and visitors manual was provided but not here. When plugging in the electric radiators, the only form of heating, apart from an open fire. The hairdryer each time used overloaded the electricity sockets tripped the electric. I had to ring Sykes to find out where the consumer unit was. There was no instructions left about how to use cooker, microwave or washing machine. Electricity sockets were overloaded all had extension leads or numerous plugs in an adapter. Various photos available. We had no contact details or instructions about the recycling had to ask neighbour when the blue bins went out, but did not know about the Green or Brown one so we left where they were and had not been put out previously as were disgusting. The cottage needs a dramatic upgrade in my opinion and is a health and safety nightmare. (VARIOUS PHOTOS AVAILABLE) When it comes to installing a washing machine in a bathroom, there are a few things to bear in mind. In the UK, due to strict building regulations, plug sockets can’t be fitted in the bathroom unless they are at least three metres from the bath or shower. The electric socket for this was just hanging from the ceiling loosely behind, hence we never used the washing machine as we were very worried it would cause a fire or overload the system. The photos on your website of this cottage makes it look very nice which it could be with a lot of maintenance, deep cleaning and gardening. The views from the lounge and double bedroom windows are very nice Was very good to have smart TV and WI FI but was very cold with only having 3 electric heaters, the storage heaters could not be operated and had no instructions. If we had put on the fire every night we would not have had enough wood for the week. We have lots of photos we could send you to validate our findings. If you can let me have e mail or postal addresss to get these to you. We were so looking forward to this visit and have been very disappointed, All of us have come home with chesty coughs and colds due to the damp conditions. I hope for future renters that you ensure improvements are done or you may continue to get more complaints. I understand people have different ideas and standards of cleaning but this has not even had the basic cleaning done before we rented. Asked if we would rent the cottage again definitely a big NO. Would not give it any star rating at all,. In every room, reed diffusers have been placed to obviously try and mask the damp smell. Lovely apartment, clean, comfortable and good location.

I would have given it 5 stars but the situation re parking needs urgent addressing so I'm onky giving 3 in the hope it will help get that sorted. When we booked the adjacent pay and display car park (owned by the Harbour Authority, who also own this apartment and the others in the complex) was advertised as costing around £5 or £6 for 24 hours. We have previously used the car park when visiting Caernarvon and budgeted accordingly. However on arrival we found the car park now costs more than triple that expected cost - almost 4 times that actually. Anyone booking until this issue is sorted should bear in mind that to park in the car park daily could add almost £150 to the price of the weeks rental. There are other parking options a reasonably short walk away but we found that quite inconvenient. Really there needs to be a parking permit included in the rental cost - owners should either up the price of rental and include a parking permit or declare this hidden cost. Overall the apartment is lovely but it is very overpriced when you factor in the extortionate parking costs. The Restaurant in the complex, La Marina was really good. We thoroughly enjoyed eating there and definitely recommend. It was very quiet most nights, probably the car park pricing is having an effect there too. The caretaker at the complex was very helpful. Told us all we needed to know, a very nice man. As other reviews have stated there is no information about how to use the appliances in the apartment. We worked it out OK, buy clearly previous residents hadn't as the dishwasher was clogged up having had the detergent tablet forced into the rinse aid compartment so maybe placing some information about how to operate things will help them last longer! Would we return? Yes - if parking issue is addressed, otherwise there are better options that are more luxurious and cost less.

Lovely well maintained and quiet holiday park.

Cottage was pretty basic but a good base to explore the surrounding area. Thank you for the tea, coffee and milk when we arrived, was much needed after travelling for a few hours. Nice and clean, although it would have been nice to have the use of a hoover or even a dust pan and brush as floors downstairs and up are laminate flooring so if you take your furry friend with you there will likely be dog hairs everywhere (we actually went out and bought a dust pan and brush for this reason). The two sofas are in desperate need of replacing, they've definitely seen better days, not comfortable at all, you can feel the frame of the sofas in some places. Kitchen was stocked well with pots, pans and utensils, everything needed for cooking meals, could do with a few more glasses though. Beds were fairly comfortable but mattresses are pretty thin and mattress in the room with the bunk bed you could feel the spring through. Maybe a mattress topper would help? The outside area to the front was lovely and a nice suntrap in the afternoon. It's a shame the area in the back isn't enclosed though as had two of the neighbours dogs wandering about by the back door. It would have been nice to have had some instructions left to say about what to do with bedding and towels after our stay. Overall an enjoyable holiday and lovely holiday park and would book again if the sofas were replaced.

The Cosy Cabin is an absolute Gem!

The pictures are beautiful yes, but to be there and witness it first hand they just don't do it justice! It's been an absolute sanctuary to come home to after our crazy adventures of days out Gorge walking, Kayaking, Zip lining beach days and the beautiful Caernarfon Castle and nearby beach towns and gorgeous pub lunches. The views from the Cabin inside and out are absolutely breathtaking. The gorgeous lush woodland in front, the mountains either side. The Sea in the distance. Plus our neighbours for the week the cows in our' field were a joy to watch. They even let us feed them some grass! They were excellent entertainment for our young son who loved to also feed and pass them the hard to reach wild flowers growing just out of reach of the ones they had already devoured. We have never stayed anywhere with such beauty all around us! We are already re gigging next years plans to get an extra trip back here. The owners should be extremely proud of this place and what they have done with it! I will be recommending to all our friends and family ✨️❤️

We had a lovely time staying at Penrallt Fawr the cottage was perfect size for 2 adults, 2 children and a dog.

The front garden is a nice size with an amazing view and safe and secure for the dog. The lane next to the cottage is quiet and it was a very peaceful stay. The cottage is quite isolated up the hill but still quite a few properties nearby. The rooms were all a nice size and it felt spacious. The kitchen had everything we needed and whilst we didn’t use the range to cook on the addition of an airfryer and electric hot plate made cooking easy. We had plenty of hot water and the bathroom was a great size with a nice shower and big bath for the kids. WiFi was good too. Overall it was a lovely cosy cottage and a good central location to get to the places we wanted to visit. There was a Morrisons express quite close maybe 5 mins which was handy. My only one slight negative comment would be that was whilst the cottage was clean and tidy when checking we had all the kids toys it was a bit dusty behind the beds and furniture but just a minor point. We would definitely consider coming back here when we come to North Wales again.
