What our customers say about their holidays

  • Brian - Verified booking

    To start; 1.

I was informed by email to contact you with regards the code for the barrier!!! The email contained 3 different phone numbers, one for for the Reception which was an automated service and gave no option to speak to anyone. Another was for the out of hours team, no answer on that number. The third was to Lake District Lodge Holidays, who didn't have a clue what I was talking about. The young lady Jessica, informed me that she would contact the Park and then get back to me, well I am still waiting for that call back, even though I rang LDLH twice!! and promised a call back on both occasions, and speaking to the same person, still no call back! Only to find that when we arrived at the Park, the barriers where up and no code was needed, so what a carry on for no reason. 2. Upon arrival the lodge seemed immaculate, but upon going to use the freezer, we found the freezer to require defrosting, only one drawer out of 3 could be opened, and all three drawers had something in them from previous occupants, including 2 bags of opened ice cubes. 3. There is no information about the lodge held within the lodge, local information or anything else, which would have been useful. 4. There is a Wifi code displayed in the lodge in a picture frame, but once connected there is no Wifi/Broadband what so ever, it does not connect to the internet. Yes the Signal is bad there for mobile, but to to have absolutely no Wifi/broadband when advertised as having it is terrible these days. 5. On Saturday morning the Electricity went off at 9:20am, which meant breakfast couldn't be cooked as we couldn't use the cooker, we couldn't wash or shower as there was no hot water. We couldn't use the hot tub, no TV etc etc.... We had a meal planned for my wife as it was her birthday at Lunchtime, which we couldn't go to as we couldn't get ready to go. The electricity came back on at 2:30pm. The lodge itself is very nice, but could do with the utensils and frying pans renewing. There was a fast era of knives and fork...and only 2 Tea Spoons!! which we found pretty bizarre. This was supposed to be a surprise weekend away for my wife and friends to celebrate her birthday, instead it was a bit of a nightmare. We are not the sort of people to complain but if you don't know how can you provide a service to the standards you are advertising. It states in the terms and conditions that a complaint should be directed to the lodge owner!! Who is the lodge owner? Where are there contact details?

The location of the lodge was perfect in a private cul-de-sac within the holiday park.

The sun shone down on the decking throughout the entire day. Close to amenities and Lake side. The maintenance of the lodge was poor, and with more care and attention to detail, or a few tightened screws it could have been much better, and the issues we found wouldn't have been noticed. The back door was off centre and difficult to lock, on arrival one of the bathroom lights was continuously flickering, no wash bowl or plug for the kitchen sink, unclean dishwasher on arrival, cupboard doors not securely fitted, broken kettle. As I stated a tightened screw and a little more attention to detail and the bulk of these issues would not have been evident. The main concern in regards to the maintenance and comfort was the the drainage issue that caused the entire lodge to smell profoundly of drain water/sewage, which you can imagine made our stay uncomfortable and unbearable at points especially on an evening after using the bath and shower. I used the Sykes customer service messaging system to report the issue on 28.05.23, got no reply, messaged again on 30.5.23 receiving a reply on 1.6.23 (6 days into or 7 day holiday). This left me disappointed for the seriousness of the issue I had reported not being made a priority or even acknowledged. To top things off there was a bees/wasps nest directly above the side door and entrance to the lodge. My father in law was stung on his forehead when exiting the building to access his car. This was reported to reception but again nothing was done about it. Another issue that made our time uncomfortable and on edge especially with three young children who wanted to enjoy the outside space. Sadly not the review that I hoped to be posting, but hopefully it can help improve what should be a very popular and pleasant place to stay in the Lake District.

We've stayed in a few lodges now with LDLH and having recently been renovated, the standard of Easedale lodge was amazing in comparison.

3 good sized comfortable rooms, modern clean bathrooms and kitchen and tastefully decorated throughout. Amazing built in blue tooth speakers in the ceiling which was a great touch. Really good sized hot tub which was perfect for us after miles of walking in the rain everyday. My only constructive criticism(s) would be; the kitchen is really well equipped, but so well equipped that when we arrived there was no empty cupboard for our shopping so we had to do a bit of shifting around before we could unpack. Also whilst there are signs warning that the decking is slippery when wet I do think that it would benefit from some sort of slip mat outside of summer as we all fell on it at some point, myself quite badly to the point 3 weeks on im pretty sure I've cracked a rib :-( no biggie as I'm mid 30s but could have been nasty for an older person. Overall fantastic stay over a stormy half term week and would definitely return to this lodge, the park itself have adapted the restaurant really well to fit in with current restrictions, limited tables and all food and drink ordered on an app and once you have the app you can order food to collect too! They even still managed to have entertainment on which was brill. What did you enjoy most about your stay? Beautiful lodge and the park is perfectly situated to explore the lake district What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? Muncaster castle, bit of a trek but what a stunning place.

  • Mr Martin Reed - Verified booking

On arrival at the park found the staff at reception to be very helpful, when we finally was aloud in enter the lodge at 15:00 was very impressed of what i booked.

......... But the more I was looking round the more issues we found, we couldn't believe that the dyson hoover was left full to the rim.... that my seam petty but it rings alarm bells to me as that such an basic thing to do..... the bath room is in need of modernising or some work doing, as when you finally get the bath run what take 20 mins as water from boiler would run cold with hot tap fully open so you have to nearly close the hot tap to slow the water to gain hot water... when the bath is nearly half full there is a big gap around the bath and even more when you in the bath..... so on that note we started to use the en suite shower room........ this room has a very strong smell of drains and not very pleasant when your only sleeping next to the door...... As an British Approvals for Fire Equipment inspector (BAFE ) I found that the Powder Extinguisher (stored pressure) hasn't changed....... the Extinguising went out of test in 2013 and was new in 2003.......... so this means this would make any insurance to be void on the lodge, but the main point is putting peoples life at risk if this unit was needed to be used, and this is the same for the fire blanket. So to some it all up this lodge isn't valve for money.................... What did you enjoy most about your stay? We loved our days out around the lake What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? we loved the town in Bowness

  • Ms Jill Mckechnie - Verified booking

The lodge itself was in a perfect location and sitting on the decking was excellent when the sun came out.

The bathroom was perfect for my needs. We loved the lodge itself and technically it is fully accessible it's just unfortunate that the owners have put a very thick carpet throughout the lodge!! Apart from in kitchen and bathroom areas. I went from being independent to totally dependent on my partner for everything as I couldn't push myself as the carpet was too thick!! Why would anyone install a thick carpet in a wheelchair accessible lodge is beyond me. If it was the carpet as you go in the front door of the lodge that would have been manageable but you would think flooring would have been more practical as I can't take my wheels off if they get dirty the way people can take their shoes off!! So the day we got caught in the rain I was worried about going into the lodge Incase I got the carpet dirty. I do have a picture but there isn't anywhere that I can upload it on this form. If the carpet issue was addressed then we would love to return as the lodge itself is brilliant!!! We would probably book lodge most years if i could push myself about the way that I can at home. What did you enjoy most about your stay? How peaceful it was sitting on the decking What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? The boat trip on Lake Windermere
