About this property

Bright and cheery throughout, this lovely cottage sits on a quiet lane in the quaint Lakeland village of High Lorton. Sleeping four people across two bedrooms, this former brewery is the ideal accommodation option for small families or groups of friends who want to spend their days mountain biking at Whinlatter Forest or kayaking at Crummock Water, and their evenings sipping wine in the cottage’s shared courtyard or relaxing by the glowing wood burner in the cosy lounge.

Head up the exterior stone staircase to the cottage’s pretty porch and step inside. Make your way through to the stylish kitchen and get busy cooking a feast for your loved ones. If you have the kids with you, point them in the direction of the snug/games room (they need to go back outside, head down the staircase to the ground level and access it via an external entrance), where the table football game will keep them happy until dinner is ready. Get the whole gang together at the dining table to eat, and then head out to the shared courtyard to crack open a bottle of something bubbly and watch the stars come out. Alternatively, make a beeline for a sofa in the lounge to catch up on your favourite TV shows by the glow of the multi-fuel wood burner. When it’s time for bed, you’ll find two lovely bedrooms on the first floor.

This property has plenty of lockable storage for your bikes and kayaks, which comes in handy if you want to go mountain biking at Whinlatter Forest (3.5 miles) or kayaking at Crummock Water (4.5 miles). Alternatively, if you’re feeling brave, take a dip in the stream, which flows alongside the village hall gardens (0.1 miles). Or head out for a hike to Scale Force (5.5 miles) to check out the dramatic waterfall.
