Dog Friendly St Agnes Holiday Cottages

A welcoming village on the north coast of Cornwall, St Agnes has inviting seaside trails for walkers, a sheltered beach and a fine array of cosy pubs and restaurants. Considered by some to embody the essence of rural Cornwall, St Agnes perches among rugged cliffs in an AONB and the village is full of charming stone houses clinging to steep streets. Affectionately known as Aggie, the village's main beach is called Trevaunance Cove, and it draws both surfers and families as the gentle shallows are perfect for children to splash about and there are many rock pools to explore.

At Dog Friendly Cottages, we believe your treasured pup should be welcomed on all your exciting adventures, which is why we specialise in dog-friendly cottages in St Agnes. Looking for a sleek retreat with a steaming hot tub? How about a family-friendly barn conversion with sea vistas? What our customers say about their holidays

  • Joanna - Verified booking

This wonderful apartment was just perfect for our family holiday to Porthtowan.

We wanted to be close to a beach but also have amenities around us too. The apartment was beautifully clean and the attention to detail was absolutely amazing. The little extras, like dog blankets, toys for the dogs, scones and clotted cream on arrival, souvenir jam jars to take home. The list goes on! The apartment is very modern and well thought out. The drawers and cupboards were full of everything you will need! It was very comfy and had a home from home feel to it. The main oven didn’t work which was a shame but we managed with the top oven for the week. We struggled to remove the shower head from the unit which became a bit annoying at times. The water pressure wasn’t great but we knew this before we arrived. The only downside to this apartment is the lack of privacy in the garden. There is a few steps leading from the back garden which gives you quick access to the park opposite or the beach road. Unfortunately, our neighbours were using this constantly which did cause issues as we had no privacy whatsoever as they were in and out climbing over the wall every few minutes. This was the only big problem for us. Our children would be outside playing and then run in as they were embarrassed about having people walking over the wall. If it was a few times then this would’ve been fine, but it was very frequent! However, this wouldn’t stop us going back to Offshore, as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there, it ticked every box for us. You are literally opposite the pub which is a great location if you like to go out for drinks and cocktails in the evening, but you do get a bit fed up with the smell of garlic and seafood entering the apartment every day. We visited the pub which didn’t really fit our family as the menu is mainly seafood. We asked for haddock and our kids ended up with platefuls of octopus, prawns and squid! Needless to say we left hungry which was a shame, but if you’re a seafood lover then you’ll love it! I have given this apartment 5 stars as we really were so overwhelmed by the amount of thought that’s gone into making this property perfect for your holiday by the sea! The little touches made it for us! Porthtowan is a beautiful place to stay. We will be back Offshore! Thanks for making this a holiday we’ll never forget! ❤️

Lovely house in a great location.

Loads of space, we were a family of 5 (4 adults and 1 teenager). Small garden, which is enclosed for dogs or small children, so safe for them to be outside. It is also gravel rather than grass, so no muddy paws to wipe off either. It would benefit from a dish washer in a property that size, we seemed to constantly be washing pots. There is plenty of room for one, the kitchen is huge. A double sink in the kitchen with a decent drainer woukd be good to avoid lots of water over the work surface. The only things provided were 2 J cloths, 1 scourer, 1 tea towel, 2 loo rolls (one in each bathroom) and 1 hand-wash in the kitchen. You could do with at least 2 or 3 tea towels, and maybe a couple more loo rolls and a handsoap in each bathroom. The downstairs shower was great, good water pressure and temperature. The upstairs shower is electric and is not very good, low pressure and cool temperature. Just couldn't get it to a decent warm temperature even on full power and heat. Beds were comfy, but they are doubles and not king size. The rooms could easily take super king beds, which would make for a great nights sleep after a long journey. The pillows were rubbish, very flat so take your own if you like a supportive pillow. One last thing, the TV aerial in the upstairs ensuite room needs fixing just under the skylight window like in the twin room next door. We had to fashion something to balance it on top of the TV to get a signal (we used a rack drawer from the wardrobe turned on its side). Also need a pole hook to open the windows in the roof, as the one provided is broken. It works to push them closed though. St Agnes is a lovely, quirky little village. Only a short walk down the hill from the house. There is a cut through between the houses just before the driveway that is quicker. Can recommend the Peterville Inn and the Chinese takeaway for food (best chow mein my son has ever had apparently). Lovely house, would definitely stay again. Thank you

Described as nestled in St Agnes , it was sited before the sign that proclaimed the town itself and beside a busy road.

It is a beautiful barn conversion and I understand planning rules have to be adhered to, however lighting could be improved. It is very fashionable slightly at the expense of comfort, I like upright seating. Also all in one room living means xtra planning when using washing machine and cooking as unable to hear telly or each other. Bad leak in door of shower in bathroom. Perhaps some sort of gate at top of stairs would ensure child and dog safety. Giant bath towels too big to wrap hair in to prevent a soaking and only realised on last day you could tilt shower head to avoid torrent. My 28 year older daughter absolutely loved everything about it however. Love the town of St Agnes and the many super walks and interesting attractions , museum especially informative. Thankyou for most useful welcome pack, and very comfortable beds Had a ground floor property with its own outside space been available when we booked I suspect our experience would have been more positive.

We have returned to beacon barn for a number of years now.

The location on the edge of St Agnes is a great place from which to tour around Cornwall. Very clean, very comfortable and very pet friendly. Small communal garden at the front which we find great for our dogs. No good though if you need an enclosed garden. Great walks from the doorstep, two footpaths close by. Have to cross a usy road to get to one and walk for a short while to get to another. Fantastic beach of Chapel Porth close by. Can take dogs on in September. Lots of amenities close by. We found cottages closer in to st agnes can be a bit noisy. We were disappointed this year however as the seal had gone on the shower in the main bathroom. We couldn't use it atall even though we asked the maintenance people to fix it on the first day we arrived.

    A gorgeous, comfortable, clean barn.

We got used to the fast traffic but it did take a few nights. As the week went by, listed below are a few recommendations for an even more comfortable stay.: Would have loved a caffatiere or coffee machine to have been available. A mat inside the front door would be useful for taking dirty shoes off or drying down wet dogs esp if it’s raining and you can’t do it outside. Some blinds/ curtains on the main windows would be useful as our dogs woke with the 4.30 am dawn chorus as it was so light. We had a fabulous week, the weather was great and we were able to explore the beautiful coast and footpaths. We would definitely stay again and recommend to our friends. Thank you for allowing us the use of your house. Cathy & Alan
