Dog Friendly Cottages In Boscastle

Tucked away on the spectacular North Cornwall Coast, the sleepy fishing village of Boscastle is as charming as it gets. Nestled into a dramatic ravine, the village looks like something out of a painting. The ocean wending its way inland via the Boscastle Harbour, colourful fishing boats bobbing past whitewashed walls and thatched roofs - it's little wonder this area was beloved by the iconic English poet and novelist, Thomas Hardy.

Situated in Cornwall's designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there's so much here for nature lovers to enjoy! Set off on a ramble along the South West Coast Path, pack a picnic and head to one of the nearby sandy beaches or simply kick back in the steaming hot tub of your holiday home and soak up those sea views. The options are endless from your Boscastle holiday cottage. Even if the weather is grey, you and the pooch can still enjoy a trip to the enchanting Museum of Witchcraft.

Once you've finished exploring, head back to your snug holiday cottage for a cosy evening by the fireside. From sweet stone cottages to grand seaside mansions, Boscastle is bursting with beautiful pet-friendly self-catering holiday cottages, ideal for groups of all shapes and sizes. Whether you fancy being right in the heart of all the action or in a secluded spot, we've got you covered. Meaning all you and your four-legged friend need to do is sit back, relax and enjoy the very best of Boscastle.

What our customers say about their holidays

Boscastle was lovely, just the right amount of busy but not too crowded to have to worry about social distancing too much.

Really nice house, especially the reception and kitchen space as we were two families sharing, lots of room :) All the bedrooms are spaced out and gave people room to chill on their own when they wanted to. The bedroom decoration probably needs some updating, the windows are old and need some attention but was fine in temperate weather. All the beds were comfy (except the downstairs one) and bedding was nice. All very clean. Lots of equipment in the kitchen. The seating area outside the kitchen caught the sun and was sheltered, we sat out there a lot. Bathrooms were all clean but a couple could do with a bit of updating. The shower upstairs takes a while to heat up and was hard to get just right, but was lovely and warm and fairly powerful. Short sharp walk to the village centre (5mins) which we all enjoyed, did make us puff the first couple of times but we all felt better for it after a week. Spar, bakery, fish n chips, and a few places to have a drink ( inside and outside seating), clothing and gifts so small but good selection if you need/ want anything. The Boscastle farm shop/cafe serves delicious food and has a nice shop and deli, we had to book a table (but it was summer holidays)and is well worth a visit (Relaxed service but I could have eaten there every meal if I’m honest). Lovely walks without having to drive anywhere if you don’t mind a sharp hills. Really enjoyed the house, town and surrounding area.

    The property was not clean.

Hairs and toothpaste found in the bathroom sink, dirty marks on the toilet seat, sticky marks and food crumbs on kitchen worktops, dusty, dirty surfaces and floors. Photographs provided to Sykes. The television did not work and it was clear from conversations with the owner that she was aware of this and therefore property listings are knowingly inaccurate. In my opinion, parking in a 'nearby street' is misleading. Guest are not made to feel welcome. There is no welcome pack and not basics left in the kitchen. Not even a teabag. No hand soap, or any soap to wash ones hands after visiting the toilet, on arrival at the property. Unfortunately, finding a dirty and unhygienic property outweighs any positives that this property may have. Furthermore, the attitude of the owner was poor as was the attitude of Sykes. The owner is in breech of contract, as stated in Sykes booking conditions, yet Sykes will not do anything about this. Furthermore, Sykes ratings clearly cannot be relied on and are not only unhelpful, but misleading when trying to choose a property. Therefore, I could not recommend Sykes to anyone.

    Lewarne is a beautiful house.

Extremely luxurious and spacious. Fully equipped with everything you need. Boscastle is a lovely quaint cornish National Trust village and an excellent base to explore North Cornwall and the surrounding areas. Boscastle has some lovely reastaurants and tea house, all of which we would highly recommend. The Witches Museum is a must to visit. Full of intrigue. There are so many beaches to explore. Some with easy access, some are slightly more challanging to navigate. Lewarne had a lovely feel to it, very homely. Please do not be put off by the fact that you cannot park outside the property. We unloaded the car with no problems and parking is only one road away. We never had problems trying to find a parking place. Lewarne was the best property that we have ever stayed in.

Standard of cleaning was a bit average - generally it looked as if the place could do with a proper "spring clean".

Issue with broken bed on arrival. This was dealt with very promptly by the owner but should have been noticed and rectified in advance. Lock missing on a bathroom door; lightbulbs "blown"; central island unit in kitchen beginning to fall apart etc. Cooking utensils were a bit limited for a place that sleeps 11. We struggled to cook a roast dinner due to lack of saucepan capacity etc. Also kitchen knives were fairly useless - I recognise that there is a potential issue if knives are too sharp but a knife should have some sort of cutting edge (something that only the bread knife achieved!) Overall impression was of a pleasant property in a good location. However, it was let down by the standard of presentation and maintenance.

Place was not clean on arrival - cleaners had done a poor rushed job - big spiders webs for example, filthy windows on in and outside.

Place is in need of renovation work which includes new wallpaper, carpets, Re-grouting in bathrooms, filling holes in walls and painting etc Not enough outdoor seats on the terrace which is too small for the property. No tumble dryer. Fridge needs replacing as didn’t work well when full and in regular use (cheap make). Kitchen and dining area was good. No ventilation in one of bathrooms that had a shower that was too small and offensively loud. Gorgeous setting with good parking. Tv room isn’t great, feels like an old people’s home or a doctors waiting room. Loads of hot water available after days on the beach. A real mixed bag but far too much money to rent this place vs what you get for your money.
