  A super apartment with everything we needed for our stay in Southwould, booking was easy and all communication good.

  On arrival we had an issue with bed linen being stained which was promptly rectified by very helpful team both on the phone and in person which was awesome thank you. The apartment is in a super location and well designed and maintained however the apartment above could do with better soundproofing particularly in the bedroom section. We were unlucky that during our short stay both groups/family’s that stayed above us were up VERY early in the morning with alarms going off and showers being taken at 4 am and 6 am/6:30am so disturbed both us and the children in the bedrooms bellow. With the second set of guests arriving we sighed relief feeling we would have better luck however we were then met with very loud snoring and yet again another very early wake up call. Soundproofing was not an issue in the lounge / living area so it was a shock the bedroom was such a issue. Is it possible also that there could be an anti allergen pillow/ bedding supplied? … the beds were very comfortable however I’m allergic to feathers and the down bedding meant I slept with jumpers between my face and the bedding so as not to suffer soo badly. On vacating the apartment we also found the hoover broken with a note attached to say that it was out of order by a previous guest. It meant our experience in the apartment was mixed this time yet having stayed with bestofsuffok before we were expecting good things.

  On arrival we found a constantly dripping tap in the sink. We reported it and they sent a plumber to repair it. But the job was too difficult and though he said he would return soon he never came back during our holiday. The constant noise of the tap was not pleasant. It wis also a complete waste of water. The late Summer temperature was still quite warm yet the aga was on when we arrived and the cottage was like an oven. We were only given a thick duvet (almost certainly 13.5 tog). This was too hot for us so all we could do was take the duvet cover off, use it as a sheet with the bedspread on top. There was also one single blanket available. We asked for you to please supply us with either a thinner duvet or a couple of blankets. You got back to us and said that their team in Southwold said they could not do that. We also had to turn the double mattress over because it was quite worn and my back sank into it. Finally, my wife said that one of the items in the First Aid box had a 2008 ‘use by’ date on it.   Bearing in mind you have cleaners going in once the property is vacated, we were disappointed to find a large cobweb underneath one of the kitchen cupboards and a large dust ball hanging from the underneath of the landing radiator.

  Generally speaking, the property was of an acceptable clean standard. With regards to the appliances in the kitchen, all worked properly, however, in our opinion the dishwasher was too small given that four people can stay in the cottage. With regards to the main bathroom, our only comment is the glass shelf above the wash basin is positioned in an almost dangerous position when one wants to bend to rinse their mouth for example - one has to actually duck your head underneath the shelf to access the basin properly. Bed was very comfortable, but alas, the sofa was on the hard side and not particularly comfortable to sit on. The welcome pack does need to be updated to include the correct information regarding the recycling bottle bank location and also the fact the recycling bins are only collected on a fortnightly basis rotating with the general waste bin. Regarding the above, we did enjoy our time at Poppy Cottage, neighbours were lovely and welcoming - location was great. We look forward to returning.

  This cosy, very warm cottage is in a perfect location for everything Southwold has to offer. The steep staircase was a good workout as well as the wonderful beach walks that are super close. Its seaside themed ornaments are in abundance which adds to the cottage’s charm but not for those who suffer with a dust allergy. Do go prepared with everything you need as nothing extra is provided - although we did find salt for our chips! The bedding is super quality and the bath sheets are wonderfully soft and cosy. There was just myself and my hubby and a small dog - I would hazard at saying that with any more bodies the place would feel cramped. We enjoyed our stay though, the weather was amazing for January!

  Lovely cottage in fantastic location.

  Perfect size for 2 adults and toddler. Good size sitting room, practical kitchen with everything you need, nice downstairs cloakroom (with washing machine), very good bathroom with Velux window (you can hear the sea when open!), very comfortable bedrooms. Good size patio out back which becomes a sun spot - really relaxing. Really sleepy cottage, with excellent feel. A lot of thought has gone into providing guests with everything they need, so I would recommend, and we hope to stay again. If there was only one criticism; I'm sure guests would appreciate the standard milk, butter, bread on arrival. Final touch would make this property excellent.
