Dog Friendly Beadnell Holiday Cottages

With a prime location on the glorious sandy beaches of Beadnell Bay, the sleepy coastal village of Beadnell is perfectly located for exploring Northumberland. And there is such a lot to explore. The county has no fewer than 70 ruined castles, many of which add drama to the marvellous East Coast beaches. Spot puffin and seal on a boat trip to the Farne Islands or follow in medieval footsteps on Holy Island.

Beadnell is the perfect location for dog-loving families, situated walking distance from a long beach, and within easy reach of a number of dog-friendly pubs. Our holiday homes here range from cosy cottages with log-burning fires to large family homes with sunny private gardens. And with our price guarantee, our cottages offer a great opportunity for a low cost holiday.

If you're not sure what you're looking for, our friendly team is here to help. The nearby village of Seahouses is a must-visit for young families, with arcades and ice cream shops that provide hours of amusement. Inland, the medieval Alnwick Castle and Gardens, lavishly restored in the 18th century, is a marvellous day out. Despite its bounty of riches, Northumberland remains under the radar as a holiday location. Go now, while it's still the UK's best kept secret.

More dog-friendly locations around Beadnell

Northumberland's heritage coastline is only just beginning to get the recognition it deserves as an outstanding holiday destination. Discover its mighty sand dunes, ruined castles and charming fishing villages from any one of these wonderful towns.

Beadnell features as a top dog friendly location in our guide: 'Pawfect Staycation According to Your Dog' which teams the perfect holiday destination for your pooch depending on their breed.

What our customers say about their holidays

  • Mr Buckingham - Verified booking

Original Cottages are hard to contact - their "Chatline" has never been available on any of the several occasions that I have tried to use it. Their phone line is manned, always goes to "please hold" and tells me that they are busy dealing with other holiday queries..... based on our experience the queries will be complaints.... So... to "The Cottage" has good points, but in no particular order, we were very disappointed with : Garden furniture inadequate - more needed and needs cushions. If the BBQ was for our use, it was in appalling unusable rusty condition. A bathroom door lock should be a standard fitting in a cottage for 6. Door to the patio needs a handle & lock to work from outside, not just bolts inside- the gardener cut the grass during our stay, using a mower with no grass box - the grass gets walked everywhere without proper door control. A door mat should be at that second door to protect carpets. The oven was dirty and smoked when we tried to use it. Basic cleaning seemed ok until you looked into corners, shower room trims or behind the kitchen sink- really not great. Snail trails across the lounge carpet are not a good sign! Damp smell in the living room and down to the far double bedroom. Settee seating in the living room is for 4, not six. No information pack was supplied to help with house basics like bin days, gardener turning up unexpectedly ... and helpful local information like vets, doctors, dentist, A&E... and the good stuff like pub/restaurant/takeaway menus. A big bottle of handwash at the kitchen sink would be helpful and hygenic. Car parking for 2 cars statement was obviously aimed at smaller vehicles than ours.... cutting the tree back at the end of the drive would help to get boot access when 2 are squeezed in. "Unlimited WIFI" was a joke - it was limited by the poor maintenance of the system and the lack of boosters to serve the whole cottage. We had an engineer out on our 5th day who boosted speeds from 9.7 to 30mbs by replacing bits that were well out of date.... and had been complained about by previous cottage users. One of our group lost 4 days work due to lack of internet and no reliable phone signal in the cottage. Accordingly, the TV was unable to stream channels. Sound of gnawing rodents through the night from under the floor/in the wall of the king size bedroom disturbed sleep and caused distress to one of our group. Had to get plumbers out to clear a blocked shower trap and kitchen sink outside gully/drain. We have had many cottage holidays over the years - there are always going to be things that each of us might choose to do differently, but when visitor book comments repeat similar concerns about the place, as they did with this cottage, I think it's reasonable for the problems raised to be addressed before rentals continue - We are very disappointed with our choice of holiday home and are even being kept waiting for the promised complaints form! We shall visit the area again in the future, but it is an area blessed with lots of rental choice, and we shall certainly look elsewhere next time. Ash & Polly Buckingham

Disappointing. It has the potential to be 4 star, but looking tired. Carpets had not been vacuumed prior to our arrival. The previous guests must of had a heavily moulting blond dog! The out of date information book suggests that guests vacuum up after their dog before leaving the property. Yet you pay a surcharge for bringing a dog. Which we naturally assumed was for the extra time to vacuum between guests. Carpets generally are stained and grubby. Bedding and towels were nice quality, comfy beds. The shower was extremely hot, impossible to adjust or stand under. On Day 5 we received a phone call from Original Cottages asking if they could send a plumber. They obviously knew about this yet no prior warning or apology that there was a problem with the shower before we arrived. It was fixed and worked ok for the remaining two days. Light in bathroom is broken. No toilet roll holder. No shower caddy in shower, mould in shower. Bath matt is gross. Cheap liquid soap provided, bring your own. Standard lamp does not work in sitting room, so no ambient lighting on an evening, not a conventional bulb. Fire risk assessment in the out of date visitor book is due for renewal January 2017. Dishwasher tablets, a cleaning cloth, bin bag, tea bags and a few coffee sachets constitutes the welcome pack! New baking trays needed. Apartment could be lovely again with a little investment!

  • Mrs Oona Roxburgh - Verified booking

This was a really special visit for us. The Cottage was practically perfect. There were just one or two things that were a little disappointing, given the weather. The heating system is not adequate at all to heat the main rooms in the cottage. Without the fire, we would have had to leave earlier as my mother needs warm rooms. They do not have to be hot, but the radiators are useless for the size of the large rooms. The information file was missing, so we hoped that we did everything right. Another slight complaint was that the gatepost had been freshly painted and no notice hung there so that some of us got white paint on our clothes. On my daughter's jacket we cannot remove it. Paint would not dry in those freezing temperatures, so a notice would have been helpful. The owners of the property have done their best to make the house feel 'lived in'. It was not like going into impersonal surroundings. There were homely touches everywhere. The beds were very comfortable and the bedding (especially pillows) and towels were of a very high quality. I will certainly book with this organisation again.

  • Mr John Hall - Verified booking

The apartment was excellently appointed and clean, but it seemed to lack good housekeeping and proper attention. For instance, the boiler was not working properly, and while we could live with this for hot water the malfunction was know to the agents but they did nothing to leave us instructions on how to deal with the problem. The extractor fan and shaver light in the bathroom were not working, which again should have been spotted. Also the refill mechanism on the one toilet stopped working, while the carbon monoxide alarm started to beep and malfunction. Your maintenance team were quick to remedy, but most if not all of the above could have been prevented with proper, considered maintenance. Many of the instructions appeared out of date and compiled some years ago by a previous owner, and in spite of them saying no dishwasher tablets or washing powder was left for us. Finally, it would have been nice if a welcome pack including some cakes or a bottle of wine left, which would have been much appreciated after such a long journey.

Lovely cottage! Beadnell is a fantastic village, 10 mins walk to the beach, a couple of minutes to the 2 local pubs and 5 minutes to the local shop. The cottage itself is beautifully appointed, the garden is huge and completely secure which was brilliant for our 3 dogs! The kitchen and sitting room are bigger than they appear on photos, the bedrooms all comfortable. We noticed there wasn’t a welcome pack or folder which was unusual compared to other properties we have been to. There was leaflets about bin collections but they were out of date. Also a lack of hoover bags and the bag that was already on the hoover was full and not been emptied for some time but we managed to make do but it’s something to perhaps consider taking with you for future residents. Parking is available for 2 cars which was perfect for us. Seahouses is only a few minutes drive up the road and has a large Co-Op store and more bars/restaurants and the cottage is perfectly situated for the castles and other towns like Alnwick. All in all a very enjoyable stay
