Dog Friendly Newquay Holiday Cottages

Think Newquay and you probably think sun, sand and surfers. While it's true that this part of Cornwall does boast some of the best beaches in the region and there is a rock-solid surfing community at play in the summer, there's plenty more to Newquay than hanging ten. However, if surfing is your thing, book one of our nearby dog friendly Newquay cottages and you could be catching waves all week long or watching the professionals doing their thing during the annual Boardmasters competition – complete with live music!

Although Newquay is famous for its surf-centric attractions, there's plenty more to see and do, whether you're travelling with kids or have managed to sneak away with your better half. Book one of our Newquay Cottages and you'll find yourself within easy distance of some superb natural wonders, such as the Gannel Estuary, excellent shopping and the many sites that contribute to Cornwall's part in the Arthurian legends.

Is Newquay best for Families or Couples?

The short answer is - “both”. If you've booked one of our pet friendly holiday cottages in Newquay for your family, you might find that you need a few aces up your sleeve in terms of days out. If the beaches aren't what gets your kids fired up, you can always nip down to the world-famous Eden Project and get back to nature. For the daredevils in the party, there's even the opportunity to zipwire across the whole complex! Flambards Village is an excellent day out, packed with rides, slides and exhibits, while Newquay Zoo is the award-winning home to over 130 different species of animal.

We offer a good range of holiday cottages in Newquay that are ideal for couples looking for a bit of peace and tranquillity. While you're there, a visit to St Nectans Glen Waterfall in Tintagel ought to be on the cards. As far as romance goes, it ticks all the right boxes - ivy-entwined trees, a glittering river and a wonderful waterfall. St Michael's Mount is another spectacular location - while it's possible to get there by boat, wait until the tide goes out and a path is revealed in the sea bed – a path that was once trod by a legendary giant.

Whatever you're looking for in your dog friendly holiday, Newquay will have something to offer.

What our customers say about their holidays

  • Emma - Verified booking

We reported a few items on our 1st day and these concerns were received professionally by the initial Sykes rep on duty, Jacqueline.

When the leaking outdoor shower stayed permanently on we reported again and turned off the mains water. The lack of recycling/glass bins was reported and we were assured it would be addressed. When the attending plumber simply isolated the shower from the mains that left us with no way of cleaning boards and wet suits outside so we had to trapse them through the house - far from ideal. Shower had not been repaired but simply but out of action! A few days later we disocvered soiled sheets in the downstairs guest room. When I phoned Sykes to update them I spoke with Anna who asked me to send pictures which I hadn't done, but simply placed sheets on a boil wash as I did not wish to disturb our holiday further by waiting for replacement sheets. All this time I believed I was giving helpful feedback to Sykes/Landlord to assist with future rentals and had at no time questioned my expectations as a paying 'customer' - that was until I was received an email from Frederick advising that the landlord was concerned about the amount of visits the plumber had made and still the issue was unresolved. The phrase used was 'very unusual' which implied we 'customer' were creating something unusual. For the cost of the property over 10 days (£7k) my expectations were to have a fully functioning premises with recycling facilities and clean linen. This was not the case and the lack of response from my last correspondence to Frederick speaks volumes - still awaiting a reply! On Day 9 of our 10 day holiday a garbage service arrived with recycling/glass/food waste bins. Additionally so did a heating specialist who also advised that the outdoor shower was infact broken as was the kitchen sink hot tap (which we had reported) and both required new parts. At that point we packed up and left, a day earlier than was planned. What was supposed to be a great family break was tainted by the fact either the landlord was given lip service by tradespeople (both cleaners and plumbers) or they/Sykes simply do not care - as a consequence we walked away from this holiday with regret.

The property was great - a real home from home and would certainly recommend without any hesitancy.

The whole family agreed that it would be our preferred place to stay if we come back to Newquay. There were some slight issues, which I hope will be useful. The main bedroom door - top hinge is loose, causing the door to drop slightly, so it doesn't close properly. On-suite bathroom: door hing is slightly bent, so causes sticking when closed. A member of our family needed assistance to get out. Bulb missing on mirror. Kitchen: The star LED lights on the wall could do with a simple remote plug-in plug. There's a potential hazard if the existing double adapter, which was hangoing out of the socket, were to fall. Amazon unit on the counter could not be used. It kept asking for a login. Hall to bedrooms off kitchen: ceiling bulb not working. Garden: Potential hazard for children. There is easy access to the pergola beams and fall from the grass walkway leading to the hammocks. Hall to bedroom with diamond window: ceiling bulb not working. Downstairs toilet: door latch does not meet. Inside bolt very tight. Downstairs bathroom: bolt does not meet. Second light not working. Guide book states, in reference to cooker, "Please read instruction at rear of this guide to usage." But no instructions. Same applies for washing machine and tumble dryer. Guide mentions television in kitchen - but there isn't one. The above list are things I noticed could do with fixing. They aren't major issues and did not spoil our enjoyment of this lovely home. I mention them because they are little maintenance issues that could quite easily be missed. Regards, Philip

We love staying at Bro Tref and stayed last year.

The location is spot on and the village is lovely. However, this year, the house was not as clean as last year, we found butter in the microwave, and some dog poo on the gravel, ( but no worries as it was disguised and easily done, so we dealt with it). I also understand that allowing dogs is great as we brought two of our furry friends, but the resources to clean the house has gone backwards. The brush was dirty and old and although I tried to keep the floor tidy, the brush was not up to the job. Under the sink is a mess, there is so much clutter and gunge. Under the stairs is a mop bucket and mop which is smelly so adds to the aroma in the living room. The very old Dyson hoover does not work effectively, we tried to use it but the suction is limited and it has seen better days. I remember that last year there was a small henry hoover which did the job well. The upstairs shower is need of some maintenance as it doesn't drain very well. The main double room has a mouldy damp smell, but this is down to a small wooden cupboard and it is the wood which is contributing to this. Not sure how often the windows are cleaned but they were mucky and needed a clean. Outside rear has had an improvement which was good to see. I don't want to be over critical as we will definitely come again but the house needs some general maintenance and the cleaning contract needs to be relooked at especially the contract that is had to clean the place as it was not up to the same standard as last year.

    Trevethen is an amazing cottage.

It is large and well appointed. The kitchen is well laid out with ample plates, utensils etc. We made good use of the dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. The 2 double bedrooms are beautiful, both with large ensuite bathrooms. The other 2 rooms have full sized bunks and are of a good size. The dining room has a large farmhouse style table which would comfortably seat eight adults. The lounge is cozy with a working open fireplace and is very relaxing. The whole house has a lovely feel and flow. The backgarden is terraced and would be great in the summer months. There's a large summer house, 2 tables and a BBQ. You can access the garden from either the kitchen or from the landing on the first floor. Having parking for 2 cars, being a 5 minute walk to the beach, pubs and shop, Trevethen has everything and more you could ask for. Claire who is the housekeeper kept in touch prior to us arriving as storm Eunice was causing some travel problems. The cottage was warm, clean and smelt wonderful. As you can probably tell we all had a brilliant holiday and look forward to rebooking sometime next year
