Moorland Cottage sleeping up to 4 guests

Sympathetically converted from an old farm building, providing a cosy and well maintained home from home in the heart of the North York Moors National Park.
Moorland Cottage is one of three cottages which are set in the heart of the picturesque North Yorkshire village of Hutton-le-Hole, famous for its meandering beck, old stone cottages and expanse of common land which is kept well-manicured by the resident sheep. The cottage provides the ideal base for walking, cycling, touring and exploring the moors, coast, vale and dale. It has been sympathetically converted from old farm buildings to offer cosy, home from home accommodation. From the doorstep visitors can enjoy the popular Ryedale Folk Museum, tea rooms, craft shops, galleries and the village’s own chocolate factory. The well-established village pub offers a warm welcome and a menu of hearty home-cooked meals. Cyclists are very welcome and there is ample storage for bikes and equipment at the property. There are many cycling trails in Dalby Forest which is just a 20-minute drive away. Walkers are well catered for with fabulous, scenic walking on the doorstep. On-site there is a shared utility room where boots and outdoor clothing can be dried and stored. Visit Pickering (9 miles) and board the famous steam train for a stunning trip through the North York Moors to the fishing port of Whitby. Enjoy the quaint market towns of Kirkbymoorside and Helmsley with their delightful selection of shops, restaurants and inns alongside attractions including the Centre for Birds of Prey and the Walled Garden. The Arts Centre in Helmsley offers a broad range of theatre, music, cinema and exhibitions and throughout the summer months the outdoor swimming pool is popular with children. Historic houses can be found at Castle Howard and Nunnington Hall and there are abbey ruins at Rievaulx and Byland. Family fun can be found at Flamingo Land and Go Ape and there are miles of sandy beaches at the traditional seaside resorts of Scarborough, Whitby and Filey. The ancient city of York is just an hour’s drive. Shop 3½ miles, pub and restaurant 50 yards.
Moorland Cottage can be booked together with Byre Cottage (UK2165) and Heather Cottage (UK2166) to accommodate up to 12 guests.

    Robert – 20 Nov 2018
"Absolutely my favourite place to be. I would visit more often if possible but do try and get to Hutton-le-Hole a couple of times a year. I’ve used moorland cottages for the last 8 years and have never had a bad experience"
    Jo – 19 Oct 2018
"Great cottage in a great location. Some of the furniture desperately needs updating/replaced though."
    Margaret – 22 Sep 2018
"We enjoyed our visit and would stay again if it wasn't so far away from home! Not in a hurry to drive 340 miles again! The village is very sweet but doesn't have many facilities, a pub, a museum and a chocolate factory. The surrounding countryside is good for walkers, it's close to the historic towns of Helmsley and Pickering plus the seaside is only 45 mins drive. Cottage was comfortable, nice bedrooms, nice bathroom, (although the bath plug was completely clogged with hair - ugh!), didn't think the kitchen was well-equipped, there were no baking trays or metal dishes suitable for use in the oven, two of the hob lights didn't work so you couldn't tell which ring was on until it got hot. The freezer compartment of the fridge was completely iced up. Sorry if all that sounds negative, it was perfectly adequate for a week's holiday and we would stay again but not sure it deserves 4 stars."
    Manda – 12 Aug 2018
"A lovely, cosy cottage in wonderful surroundings. Very clean, comfortable and well decorated. The supply of tea, coffee, cookies and dog treats on arrival was a lovely bonus. A very family and dog-owner friendly place to stay."
    Robert – 17 Jul 2018
"Lovely village and perfect dog friendly cottage . We could not fault it and would recommend 100%"

    "fabulous time as always."
    James – 30 Jun 2018
"Moorland cottage is not in my reckoning 4 star, on moving in the carpet was stained near the door, the bedrooms although roomy were very basic. The kitchen is not very big, no room for more than 1 person at a time cooking, the fridge/freezer could have done with a defrost/clean. The only room I would say was 4 star was the bathroom, very modern, clean but I think kids would struggle with the toilet as it was higher than normal. The garden at the rear of the property is very much overgrown and could do with a good clear out.A just satisfactory holiday cottage that could do with a more attention to bring it up too the standard that I expected."
    Keith – 23 Jun 2018
"Cottage was very nice local pub great only thing against the cottage was the three piece suite which you sank in to, needs replacing but apart from that great holiday"
    Peter – 6 Jun 2018
"2nd time at these cottages .Excellent again, helped by cracking May weather.Would recommend for anyone"
    Karen – 14 Apr 2018
"We had a lovely week in Moorland Cottage, it is in a beautiful village with lovely walks on the doorstep. The cottage is the perfect place to come back to after a long walk around the moors or countryside. It is warm, cosy and welcoming with a big paddock for our dog to run around in (fully enclosed). The sheep wander freely around the village and there is a great local pub (again dog friendly) best to book as always busy. We loved it and would love to come again."
    Tina – 8 Apr 2018
"Felt the Kitchen hob needs changing as they didn’t light up when on and the numbers had worn.Fridge freezer door had broken in the fridge. No extractor fan in the bathroom"
    Janet – 17 Mar 2018
"Very nice but could be better . Needed. a good. Sort out."
    Leanne – 25 Feb 2018
"Loved it from arriving was very sad when it was time to leave. We will be back !Sunday lunch at the local pub it highly recommended !"
