We had no contact from the owner & there was no info or phone no. given. Some of the items were ultra modern & had no instructions. We had been there for 4 days before we realised that you could control bedroom lights with remote control which just had letters on! The heating came on at odd times 7.45am & 8.45pm for a short time and we couldn't get any heat from the electric fire (could operate backlighting & artificial flames but nothing else). The toilet seat fixings need replacing, we tried to tighten but did not work. Wifi connection very poor and the one sofa was very low, not easy to get up from if you are elderly. Sorry.

Stayed here for two weeks as refugees from a kitchen refit and enjoyed it immensely. Rob & Claire were perfect hosts and gave us several useful tips on enjoying the area. The Bothy is a comfortable barn conversion style cottage, smart, comfortable, well equipped and easy to stay in. We had our dog with us and she enjoyed it too, making good friends with Rob & Claires Spaniel. Highly recommend this place for the lovely area ( Castle Howard & Ampleforth nearby & East Coast only 20 mins away with the North York Moors on the doorstep) and the peace and quiet. We would certainly come back here again.

Very clean and comfortable with a constant supply of hot water and heating. Off road parking and a very peaceful location. Owners on hand if required and we very much enjoyed the homemade brownies after our long journey. Great to have a dishwasher, full fridge and freezer and a washing machine for such a compact property. We also loved the two large chairs in the bedroom. The Bothy is very cosy and well positioned for exploring the local area. We got to visit lots of places including York, Helmsley, National Trust properties, Castle Howard and Eden Camp.

Beautiful, clean, well equipped, cosy cottage in a great position for exploring N Yorks Moors & Howardian Hills. We booked a last minute stay over Easter week, welcoming communication from owners who despite being away themselves over the holiday, popped over to say hello & goodbye on either side. Would not hesitate to recommend The Bothy to anyone looking to visit the area, many fabulous restaurants & foodie pubs within a short drive and close enough to visit the N Yorks Coast. Immaculately clean and very well equipped, with a really thoughtful welcome pack on arrival. The cottage has been recently renovated to a very high spec, with loads of room for us and our (big) dog! The cottage is a great base for exploring the surrounding picturesque little villages and north yorks moors. The owners, Claire and Rob, couldnât be more accommodating, nothing was too much trouble.
