What our customers say about their holidays

Firm Anchor is five star The property is located close to the harbour, shops and pubs.
All of which are of high standards with friendly staff. The property itself is on 3 levels with accommodation over 5 bedrooms, we were 7 adults, one child (2 1/2) and two babies. The kitchen was excellent and had more than enough crockery, cutlery, pans , glasses etc for the 10 of us The 2 fridges was a great addition also as we had lots of food, beer and wine to fill them. There is a Spar mini market on the next street which came in handy. When we ventured out the local beaches they were all clean and water quality was excellent. The ferry across the estuary and onto south beach were both excellent. We visited the local area and Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and Blackpool beach and Bigby on sea / Burgh island, All worth a visit Also Dartmoor is well worth a visit to see the wild Dartmoor ponies. We enjoyed this property but would not advise anyone with poor mobility visits as the walk up from town requires good mobility and fitness.

Salcombe Parking Parking for the property is not particularly convenient for holiday makers, especially for people with mobility problems.
There was no information given on the property details. The following is given in Holiday Details: (Fore Street) - this is a No Through Road. There are a few parking spaces on this road and you should be able to pop your hazards on to unload (and load) your car. The parking is only available for one hour between 8 am and 6 pm. Cars can be parked overnight but need to be moved by 8am to avoid the traffic wardens. The Information in the house provides no specific details of parking in Salcombe. In my opinion the most suitable/convenient parking to avoid falling foul of the traffic wardens that we had to use was at Creek, Gould Road (5-10min walk from property) where we paid £8.50 for 24 hrs for each of the days we stayed at the property. The ticket machines do not take credit cards; its cash or pay by telephone. This needs to be made clear in details of the property.

Hello! Our stay at the boathouse was absolutely perfect. Being from Devon originally and residing to London for the past 10 years, you can never beat the feeling of being back by the water and our stay was exactly what we needed and hoped for. The boathouse location is picturesque and watching the sunrise from the bedroom window (in what is one of the most comfortable beds we’ve slept in) each morning was well, beautiful. We were gifted with beautiful weather over the bank holiday weekend (even returning with a little sun-tan!) and managed to get out for long walks around the cliff edges up to Gara Rock and bike rides over East Portlemouth & Salcombe. Thank you for letting us stay in your home - it’ll be a trip we won’t forget.

We enjoyed a blissful few days at Horsepool Boathouse, thank you. The stunning watery views combined with tasteful and comfortable furnishings made it a perfect place to stay for rest and relaxation. It was easy to sit for hours, watching the boats bobbing and the swans swimming from the beautiful big windows, upstairs and down. It was a such a peaceful and tranquil spot. When the sunshine changed to showers, we felt snug and cosy, sitting by the log burner. The foot ferry to Salcombe was only a few minutes walk down the lane, making it easy for us to pop there for a delicious lunch. Stocking up on provisions at the local farm shop before arriving was a great plan as we then felt self-sufficient for our special stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Buckley Cottage - we have both said that it's been our favourite place to stay in Salcombe. We loved the chic decor, wonderful fire for the evenings when the sun dipped behind the trees, absolutely amazing wood-fired oven which we used numerous times and the patio is just the perfect place to watch life on the creek come and go. The garden at the back is beyond sweet and we enjoyed our morning cup of tea sitting in the swings taking in the sun soaked views of Batson. Fun for big kids too! The games in the foot stool in the living room were a lovely touch and we enjoyed many a night fireside after a day in the sun playing cards, checkers, etc with a glass or two of wine.
