What our customers say about their holidays

We have stayed in Salcombe many times and sadly this apartment was the worst place we have stayed in.
We didnât have much choice due to Covid and all accommodation being booked up really quickly with very little choice. The plus points: nice location and a car parking space. The not so good points: This apartment needs some serious TLC ! Everything is tired and worn out. Everything that is chrome has gone rusty, bins, bar stools bathroom fittings. Carpets are very old and thread bare in second bedroom, bed linen, cushions, throws all tired and worn out ! Things that donât work, blind in bedroom broken you have to hold the pull with both hands to get it to go up and down. Bedroom window doesnât stay open keeps sliding down. Fan in bathroom not working so you have to open the window for condensation - might be due to the fact it is full of dust. Toilet upstairs, have to repeatedly pull chain to get it to flush ! Cleanliness- very poor, dust around plugs , dust on side in bathroom where nic nacs not moved. Kitchen stools dirty around base, bins smeared on top. Sofas not hoovered hairs and crumbs etc. Bathroom - fan not working full of dust, cobwebs hanging from window the window, and upstairs loft windows in bedroom and bathroom absolutely filthy, does not look like they have been cleaned for months, when opened filthy all around sides as well. This could be a lovely apartment by spending a little money on some new furnishings, and fixing the things that are not working. No excuse for cleanliness though ! Especially when check in is now later, so they can do a proper Covid clean ??? Really definitely not happening here.

Heating: It was really helpful that there was a wood burner but it would have been more helpful to have had some tools & a generous offer would have been to include some kiln-dried logs for the welcome!
. The heating control was very 'random' - possibly on a timer but challenging to adjust the switch to have the much-needed heating on outside of the regular times when we were 'at home' because of the inclement weather. En-suite: was disappointingly small - clearly built in to where there was perhaps originally a wardrobe - so it was 'cos'y to say the least!. Kitchen: really well stocked, about 12 items of each plate, dish, mug etc; the work top/breakfast bar has been well worn. The oven seemed not to heat up properly when on regular settings - only when it was on fan - we left a note confirming this. Bath sheets instead of small bath towels would have been appreciated. I doubt we would stay in Salcombe again - like so many resorts unfortunately it is just full of holiday homes and not much else - not many people actually live there it seems so it lacks a village/town feel/community... we visited many places nearby Dartmouth & Kingsbridge therefore - stunning scenery & plenty of National Trust gardens to visit. Sadly the property is, according to www, likely to be demolished some time soon to make way for 2 apartments - shame as it has obviously not long been refurbished, new kitchen, new furnishings, v comfy bed etc. However despite the inclement weather (Storm Alex) at the start of our break, we had a lovely holiday and would propose to use Sykes again.

This is a lovely property in a great location, within walking distance to the town.
Added bonus is parking - for a smallish car. Our car was too big but this was not an issue because there was plenty of off street parking. Maybe an issue during peak season though. The property was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. It was perfect for two adults and a dog. We had a couple of queries before our stay based on previous reviews about cleanliness and standards. These were dealt with promptly and had absolutely no issues with the standard of cleaning. Unfortunately while we were there, there was no hot water in the shower. Coast and Country was very responsive and sent someone to look at it within a couple of hours. A plumber was sent out later that day but a temporary fix, while a new part was ordered, didnât work. Canât fault Coast and Country for the speed in which it responded. All in all, despite the hot water issue, which is hopefully now resolved, we had a very relaxing stay. Would stay again - so long as I can have a hot shower!

We enjoyed our stay at Rock Point.
We had stayed at the property previously so knew what to expect. Itâs excellent to have the benefit of parking in Salcombe. We had an issue with TVs not working and quickly realised this was because remotes controls were missing batteries and an aerial cable was missing from bedroom 2. This was quickly rectified by the maintenance team. The wine cooler fridge is not working and the maintenance man tried changing the fuse to no avail. The PlayStation listed in Bedroom 3 isnât there anymore and on asking we were informed it was broken and hadnât been replaced. Beds were comfy and the property clean and spacious. Fridge space was a bit limited especially with no door basket for milk etc (assumed broken and removed) and this could be improved by adding a 2nd fridge in the utility room. The property was well equipped and we had everything we needed. We enjoyed our stay and would return in the future.

Disappointed with general maintainence, in parts of the property.
Cooking pans in need of replacement, work tops in need of replacement. Advertised as parking for 2 cars, which is important in Salcombe due to the restricted parking. Genuinely could not park in designated areas due to severe slopes in two directions. My vehicle is standard saloon car, I attempted to drive forward/ reverse into the designated parking area and failed due to the underside of the car catching on the tarmac. This was tried by approaching at different angles, I believe this is due to the slopes being dual directional. Should be advertised as not suitable for vehicles with low ground clearance.
