What our customers say about their holidays

Lovely house in a great location.
Loads of space, we were a family of 5 (4 adults and 1 teenager). Small garden, which is enclosed for dogs or small children, so safe for them to be outside. It is also gravel rather than grass, so no muddy paws to wipe off either. It would benefit from a dish washer in a property that size, we seemed to constantly be washing pots. There is plenty of room for one, the kitchen is huge. A double sink in the kitchen with a decent drainer woukd be good to avoid lots of water over the work surface. The only things provided were 2 J cloths, 1 scourer, 1 tea towel, 2 loo rolls (one in each bathroom) and 1 hand-wash in the kitchen. You could do with at least 2 or 3 tea towels, and maybe a couple more loo rolls and a handsoap in each bathroom. The downstairs shower was great, good water pressure and temperature. The upstairs shower is electric and is not very good, low pressure and cool temperature. Just couldn't get it to a decent warm temperature even on full power and heat. Beds were comfy, but they are doubles and not king size. The rooms could easily take super king beds, which would make for a great nights sleep after a long journey. The pillows were rubbish, very flat so take your own if you like a supportive pillow. One last thing, the TV aerial in the upstairs ensuite room needs fixing just under the skylight window like in the twin room next door. We had to fashion something to balance it on top of the TV to get a signal (we used a rack drawer from the wardrobe turned on its side). Also need a pole hook to open the windows in the roof, as the one provided is broken. It works to push them closed though. St Agnes is a lovely, quirky little village. Only a short walk down the hill from the house. There is a cut through between the houses just before the driveway that is quicker. Can recommend the Peterville Inn and the Chinese takeaway for food (best chow mein my son has ever had apparently). Lovely house, would definitely stay again. Thank you

On the arrival day, the email from Sykes said we could enter the property at 3pm.
On arrival at 3.50pm, the cleaner was still there and advised us that the arrival time was not until 6pm. We found it difficult parking at the cottage. You could drive into the drive but to get out you had to reverse all the way back along the narrow drive and road (approx 100 yards) as there was no where to turn your car around as the neighbours had blocked their drives to prevent this and the yard in front of the cottage was to small to turn your car around. This should have been included in the descripton of the property. There was a washing machine to wash your clothes but no where to dry them ie tumble dryer, clothes line or pegs. The mattress in the downstairs bedroom was too small for the bed. It was a double mattress on a kingsize bed. In the kitchen there was a sink but no draining board for when washing your pots. The second bed in the twin room was not made up, just a sheet folded and laid on the bed to make it look like it had been made. Sykes were advised prior to arrival that all the beds were going to be slepted in. It is not somewhere that we would want to go back to. It wasn't a holiday home where you could enjoy your stay. We did telephone Sykes helpline on the first day of our holiday to complain about not being able to get in to the property at the correct time. An email was received to say that someone would get back us once it had been investigated but that was 11 days ago and we haven't had a response.

So the property itself is gorgeous, really great location, great facilities and just looks gorgeous.
Even with the issue we had, if it was resolved then the score would have been very high. However we checked in on Saturday, on Sunday we tried to use the main bathroom to bathe our baby daughter, but the water wouldnât drain out. Taking out the plug revealed months, probably years of filth. We had to try and take some out, handfuls of hair, dirt and grime just so the water would start draining, all be it very slow. No phone number for the owner just an email, which was sent with pictures, I also contacted Sykes who said someone would be out on the Monday to resolve it. Monday came still no reply from the owner and no one came to fix it Multiple more messages and emails all with no response Tuesday came - called Sykes - someone would come and sort it today - no one came More messages and emails - no response Thursday called and raised a complaint - still waiting - we cut our holiday short and left. The second bathroom was completely unusable in this time so we had 5 people all using the en-suite in the main bedroom for showers, and we had to resort to bathing our daughter in the sink!!! The lack of cleanliness was horrendous that it had got to that point, but the lack of care or even acknowledgment was the real issue. Also no microwave which made sterilising bottles more time consuming, but not the end of the world.

The house is very lovely and has all the essentials of a decent holiday home however we were disappointed that the listing wasnât disclosed to be as part of an estate and that the balconies overlook other houses and families also on holiday.
Out the back is a large car park and sports ground where cars are screeching around until late and early morning, tip trucks turning around (outside the window). We didnât have a relaxing holiday at all as there were constant early morning activities in the sports ground, and on our only sunny day, when we wanted to have a leisurely breakfast on the decking the owner had sent his gardener to mow the lawns- with no notice other than waking us up! Iâm unsure why this couldnt have been done the following day in between changeovers, or why we werenât advised that we would be woken early to someone in our garden. Note that during this time the dogs also couldnt go out into the garden for their morning toilet. Additionally the property states it is dog friendly, and even though plastic beds and bowls are provided, the safety of the dogs is not considered as the garden isnât enclosed. It wouldnât take much to secure it so dogs didnât wander off into other houseâs gardens, or into the road. A lovely house but sadly our experience was not a relaxing and enjoyable one as guests peace isnât respected and some important details were withheld before booking or arriving.
