What our customers say about their holidays
Martin - Verified booking
This is one of those occasions when youâre actually looking forward to being asked for a review of a holiday accommodation.
The cottage was in an ideal position in the village, pub and shops a short walk away. The fish and chip shop the Lighthouse with the seating outside was really enjoyable, we were taken there by relatives that live close by and was highly recommended. For dog owners Danes Dyke was just around the corner 5mins by car or you could walk there straight from the cottage. All the walks are within striking distance from the cottage if you like hiking, South Landing, North Landing and the lighthouse, which has a bar and restaurant which makes it a great destination. The walk into Bridlington from Sewerby Hall Park is lovely, as is the Park itself, well worth a visit. Filey is just a short drive away Scarborough about 35 mins and Whitby just over an hours drive. Even if your not into bird spotting, (which I am not) a trip round to Bempton RSPB cliff tops is so interesting with nesting birds everywhere, would definitely recommend-bring your binoculars! The cottage itself is really lovely well maintained and very tasteful. When you arrive the first impression is what a lovely cottage and that the owner is really interested in making your stay a lovely experience. All the kitchen appliances you need are there including filter coffee machine. And there was a nice welcome basket with some treats and a loaf of artisan bread to get you off to great start! Just perfect thank you!

What a smashing holiday cottage!
We've had a lovely stay and highly recommend this property to anyone looking for peace & quiet with a few local amenities, including a choice of pubs, & great local countryside walks. The cliffs of Flamborough head are around 30mins walk through pleasant fields and give great views of the nesting areas of many seabirds. This is also the cliff top walk that goes right around the headland and various landings - great for the ramblers. The accommodation is tastefully modern with comfy beds and a cosy feel. The cottage was warm and has excellent wifi with Netflix as an extra bonus my daughter really appreciated. We didn't really take advantage of the little courtyard garden & the 'donkey shed' room - it was February so a bit chilly but I imagine these facilities will be fantastic for a sunny summer's day. The welcome basket was a lovely extra treat including the doggy treats that our 4-legged friend really enjoyed. Thank you. If you are a stargazer this is a great cottage to see some wonderful starry skies - there is very little light pollution and a short walk from the cottage takes you into open countryside to enjoy the stars, weather permitting. As a base for relaxing evenings after busy days enjoying the East Yorkshire coast this cottage has everything you need & I highly recommend - I can't criticise at all.

A great cottage in a beautiful village.
The cottage is well appointed and spacious and really home from home. The owners were fantastic, and nothing too much trouble. Other than a pub, the village does not have a local shop, so ensure you take what you need, or buy essentials when you're out and about as there is nowhere to walk to for a loaf of bread or milk. However, our welcome pack from the owners meant we had plenty in! The lane outside the property is narrow, so if you have a very large vehicle or are a nervous driver, I would advise parking nearby. Other than to load and unload I parked my car on the adjacent road and never had trouble finding space. It was only 300 yards away, so not a big deal for me. It's a great base to explore the local area. The train station at nearby Darlington gets you North to Durham or South to York, so you can travel further afield. We liked the Mainsgill Tea Room on the A66 and Easby Abbey is worth a trip for the echo stone. You can park in Richmond and walk the mile or park in Easby itself. We were lucky enough to have beautiful sunny evenings, so met the neighbours and local dog walkers. It really is a serene part of the world and oh so quiet! Sykes were top notch with regard to email communications sending us information regards the property.

Lovely cottage in a superb location.
Very comfortable and extremely well appointed. The welcome pack was much appreciated and the guest folder very useful. We had a great holiday. Wasn't sure what to recycle and where as recycling varies so much across the country. Perhaps a note in the folder would help. We came into Hawes from Hardraw due to an A684 diversion and I wasn't entirely sure where the property and access was. Perhaps a little more explanation in the joining instructions to identify the access to the rear of the property between the cottages and the sheds. Tried to get hold of the housekeeper to get advice on the recycling but the phone went to voicemail and the calls were not returned. Eventually managed it via a text as he's was away for a couple of days but. might be useful if that number could be transferred in the event of any major problem. I noticed that the lead flashing above the right hand side of the sitting room bay window had slipped forward. I suspect that if left, there will be the possibility of water ingress and damage. Thank you for a lovely time. You may only wish to publish the first section of this feed back as the rest is advice for the owners.

We have just had a great weekend in this lovely cottage.
Itâs clean and well equipped and they thought of every little touch to make things as comfortable as possible for us. A lovely welcome basket with tea, coffee, sugar, fresh bread and scones and even some dog treats. Milk, butter and jam in the fridge was much appreciated. There were dog bowls and enough toilet rolls for a whole stay. Soap in all the bathrooms and everything you could need. I couldnât find the bin bags but there must have been some somewhere. My 5 year grand daughter loved the summer house. âWOWâ was her reaction to that and to the lovely attic room with the comfiest bed Iâve ever slept in. The bathroom was huge with a big bath as well as a walk in shower. The small bedroom is as the description. Suitable for a child or teenager as thereâs not much room to manoeuvre. The king size bed on the second floor was extremely soft and I personally found it uncomfortable but my son was fine in it. Flamborough is a lovely village and the surrounding area is perfect for dog walking. We had a lovely family weekend and will definitely be booking again. Thank you âºï¸
