Dog Friendly Cottages In Freshwater

Freshwater is a charming village on the Isle of Wight. Found on the west side of the island, this is a lovely place for a cottage holiday. Freshwater is a great base for exploring the Isle of Wight, there is plenty to see and do on this beautiful island.

Staying in Freshwater will leave you spoilt for things to see and do. From the fresh sea air to numerous walks and local attractions, there will be something for everyone in your group. The Needles is nearby; a famous set of chalk stacks just off the coast. It is certainly worth a visit, and you can combine it with a picturesque coastal walk. If you enjoy watersports there is also plenty of choice here, from surfing to kayaking.

What our customers say about their holidays

I have to say that we were very disappointed with some aspects of cleanliness at the property, the kitchen and bathrooms in particular.

I had to clean the ensuite shower tiles before we could use it, picture attached. The pink residue is a build-up of bacteria and skin cells, if this is not cleaned then mould will develop, which it had. The kitchen cupboards were all dirty with grease covering the shelves where the pans are stored, I have cleaned these out as well. Some pans are not fit to be used, (pictures attached) and need to be replaced. The oven was filthy and had not been cleaned for some time, I cleaned this as well, before and after picture attached. The oven trays provided were not fit to use so I purchased 2 new ones which I have left at the property. Also, several pans need to be replaced as they are not fit to be used. There are only 2 dinner forks and 3 small forks, the property sleeps 6 people so there is not enough cutlery, I ate my dinner with a spoon on the evenings we had guests. We found one cupboard full of food, which I presumed perhaps belonged to the owner, so moved it around in order to accommodate our own shopping items. To then receive an email the day prior to departure, reminding us to leave the property clean, tidy, in the same condition we found it and to remove all food from cupboards and fridge, just added insult to injury. We did not remove the food we found in the cupboard. This is not the standard of cleanliness one expects in a holiday rental property. I have more photographs should it be necessary. I look forward to hearing from you. Regards Paul Heath Have pic's to back this up

The Barn is sited in a pleasant space and is basically Residential and quiet.

Overall it was generally very clean ie Cooker and Microwave exceptional, bedlinen spotless; likewise towels. Bed in main bedroom very comfortable. I would suggest that a Bath sheet and a Bath towel be provided for each adult along with a hand towel. Also a squegee blade for cleaning the glass shower screen. Shelf / mirror set up over wash hand basin bit of a hazard for banging your head on! Likewise, in the kitchen a supply of hand and tea towels be provided as one tea towel is insufficient for a week's stay. Kitchen has a good array of pans and dishes, it would be good if a few smaller oven proof dishes could be provided when it is only a X2 person occupancy. Some dishes are difficult to reach on the top shelf. A Polypropylene chopping board (Dishwasher safe) as opposed to glass, as glass blunts knives, all knives in the drawer proved this. Understairs cupboard difficult to access for Hoover and mop & bucket, slight damp smell. Sofa's difficult to get out of and are very low. Patio garden could be very pretty but is showing signs of lack of maintenance. Fencing / gate and weeds. A ring binder would be an asset for guests to have all information in one place. Leaflets on places of interest and entertainment, places to eat etc and your refuse/ re-cycling system instead of being in drawers / Notice Board. Also useful telephone numbers of Dentist, Vets etc. Overall a good stay and I hope that the above comments / suggestions are taken as meant, in a constructive way.

The property was only surface cleaned there were large cobwebs through out particularly around the front door inside.

The bathroom sink and bath took a long time to empty as though there was a blockage somewhere. In the kitchen there was no plug for the sink neither was there washing up bowl which would have negated the need for a plug. It would have been useful for there to have been an information package for telephone numbers for local doctors, vets, nearest hospital etc. Also there was no visitors book so that we could see what other people thought. On a positive note the cottage was in a nice rural area the bedding and towels were clean and The Red Lion Pub within walking distance had great food and friendly staff all of which I would have put in a visitors book. I have one health and safety issue the master bedroom has a step up into it, when exiting the room it looks flush with the landing, on the first night my partner went to the bathroom, missed the step(which looked level with the landing) fell forward and hit his head on the facing wall suffering a large gash on his head and badly bruising his foot. There needs to be better lighting in this area and the step needs to be identifiable when exiting the bedroom

We had a most enjoyable few days on the Isle of Wight.

The house was clean and we were ok but there were a few things that irritated us. The seating in the living room is not adequate for the size of the house with only one sofa that was anywhere near comfortable. There were no recycling facilities, we resorted to separating our own rubbish and taking it to the local recycling depot. There was no dishwasher though clearly a space for one in the kitchen. It has been a long long time since I've stayed in a cottage with no dishwasher! The bed on the top floor is very hard although this is probably a matter of personal taste as my husband was comfortable. I moved downstairs. It should also be noted that the house backs onto a busy road with the associated noise levels, Lastly, take plenty of loo roll and toilet cleaner as none are provided.

This is a lovely property, quiet and in a perfect location for people who want to stay in West Wight.

The cottage itself is lovely, the kitchen is one of the best equipped I have ever experienced in a self catering cottage, and the bathroom was lovely and clean. However, the whole place would benefit from a bit of money being spent on it. It feels a bit tired decoratively, and some of the furniture is quite worn, for example, the leather look sofas in the living area are worn and tatty looking, one of chairs round the table was rickety and did not feel safe to sit on, and the mattress in the single bed room was wafer thin. The shaver point in the bathroom didn’t work. Having said that, we loved staying there, found it mostly comfortable, and would definitely stay there again.
