Guests say

Mill Cottage is a charming and characterful property in a peaceful location, ideal for exploring Dorset’s countryside and coast. Guests frequently praise its cosy atmosphere, well-equipped kitchen, and tranquil setting. Many appreciated the thoughtful touches on arrival and found the cottage comfortable and welcoming. While some noted areas needing maintenance and occasional issues with damp or cleanliness, the majority enjoyed their stay and would recommend the cottage for a relaxing getaway.

Most guests found the cottage clean and tidy, with fresh bedding and a welcoming feel. However, several reviews mention issues such as cobwebs, musty smells, and some areas needing a deeper clean or refurbishment, particularly the bathroom and kitchen.

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity and proximity to local attractions, walks, and villages. Guests found it an excellent base for exploring Dorset, with easy access to both countryside and coast.

Many guests described the cottage as cosy and comfortable, enjoying the beds and log fire. However, some mentioned lumpy mattresses and uneven floors, and a few noted the cottage could be cold or challenging for those with mobility issues.

The cottage is generally well-equipped, with a good kitchen, games, and amenities. Some guests noted maintenance issues such as a leaking sink, non-working extractor, and tired furnishings, but these did not detract significantly from most stays.

Many guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as milk, tea, biscuits, and welcome packs on arrival. Please note that these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

We only stayed for the weekend.Cottage was very damp although heating was on you could smell it as you entered. My friend suffers from asthma and really struggled with her breathing overnight it was very worrying. There was no upstairs bathroom which we didn't realise so had to leave a light on as we are both oaps and didn't want to fall down stairs because of this l had trouble sleeping as light was shining through my door as l couldn't get heater to come on so twin room was very cold. The bathroom was disgusting and could do with completely re doing. My friend used the shower but almost fell getting out the bin was rusty and the flush wouldn't stop running and the grouting was really bad.The kitchen was a bit grubby in places and bin yet again rusty also the outside of fridge. The view outside from the kitchen was a terrible delapidated shed back garden was unkempt also cottage was right next to a graveyard.

We loved our stay at Mill Cottage - we found it to be cosy and welcoming and, due to the age of the property, full of character. We thought it was very well equipped, and appreciated the welcome pack the owners had thoughtfully left. We would definitely stay at this charming cottage again.
