Enjoying a great location in the grounds of the owner’s home, these charming properties (UKC3990 and UKC1812) are accessed via a farm track and are in a lovely peaceful location away from it all. Situated on the border of Somerset and Dorset, making these properites ideal for enjoying both counties.
Nearby is a wealth of attractions including Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum, the Haynes Motor Museum with its classic collections of cars, Forde Abbey and Gardens and a few nature reserves. Visit historical houses such as Montacute or the scenic World Heritage Jurassic Coast and seaside resorts of Lyme Regis, West Bay and Weymouth.
Inland you can visit the ever popular Clarks Factory Village, the enchanting Glastonbury Tor and Abbey, the cathedral cities of Wells and Bath, and the amazing Cheddar Gorge and caves. On your return, relax and enjoy a barbecue in this peaceful location, or take a country walk with the dog. We had a wonderful stay in Acorn Cottage and at the end of the week, we had enjoyed it so much we were reluctant to leave. The cottage, itself, was immaculately clean and tidy, with everything needed, plus a lovely welcome pack; a very much appreciated bonus.Acorn Cottage is comfortable in an outstandingly beautiful setting with birds galore. The owners had even placed bird feedings at the front and rear of the property, so we could watch the birds (we even had a woodpecker visit). I could go on, but basically, I loved it and would strongly recommend.The cottage is reached by a very long track/lane, but please do not be put off by this. I drive a little Hyundai i10 and taking it slow and steady it was no problem. In fact taking it as slow and steady as we did, gave us to enjoy the surrounding countryside even more.Thanks for a lovely stay and hope to come again.

A few niggles, What would have made our stay perfect. Enclosed paddock or garden to allow our dog space to chill outdoors as recall is poor. TV in the second bedroom. when you have children it’s nice to have the option.The track that leads to the cottages isn’t pleasant. Can be intense if met by another car as it’s a single track road.

Acorn cottage’s was an excellent place to stay. The kitchen was equipped with everything a kitchen required. It was spacious with comfortable beds. Certainly one of the best holiday let we have come across. Could recommend it to everyone. A paradise for bird watchers. If there was one slightly negative it would be the long access to go down it that did give you absolute privacy. We will certainly be back to holiday again there.
