Friar's Corner in Richmond receives high praise for its superb central location, modern and spotless interiors, and comfortable atmosphere. Guests appreciate the easy access to local attractions, eateries, and the town centre, as well as the quietness inside despite being close to main roads. The welcome packs are a delightful touch for many, though not always provided. Some mention the lack of ventilation and outdoor space, but these are outweighed by the property's many strengths. Overall, it is highly recommended for a relaxing and convenient stay in Richmond.
Cleanliness is consistently highlighted, with guests describing the property as spotless, very clean, and well-maintained throughout their stay.
The location is universally praised for its proximity to Richmond's attractions, restaurants, and amenities, making it an ideal base for exploring the area.
Guests find the cottage warm, cosy, and comfortable, with modern furnishings and quiet interiors. Minor points are lost due to comments about ventilation and lack of outdoor space.
Facilities are modern and well-equipped, with en suite bedrooms and a spacious living area. Some guests note the absence of windows for ventilation and no outdoor space, but overall satisfaction remains high.
Many guests mention a generous welcome pack and good communication from the owner, adding a thoughtful touch to their stay. However, as not all guests received a welcome pack, these gifts are not guaranteed.

Friars Corner is a stone’s throw from the centre of this popular Georgian market town, steeped in history with lots of buildings and sites of interest to discover nearby, the famous Georgian Theatre is literally opposite the property. A short stroll takes you to the picturesque market square where you can sit and watch the world go by, or explore the cobbled streets and enjoy some great shopping with an eclectic range of shops, great restaurants and cafés. Take a picnic and enjoy a circular walk around the banks of the River Swale. The walk takes you past the station which has been restored to include a 3-screen cinema, a micro-brewery and bar, an ice-cream parlour, a delicatessen, an artisan bakery and finally, a café with a gallery of local art. Next to the station is Richmond’s indoor swimming pool. There is something here for everyone.
Richmond sits at the gateway to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park, making this the perfect base for outdoor enthusiasts to explore the sights of Swaledale and the Yorkshire Dales. There are plenty of riverside and woodland walks nearby which continue into the wonderful countryside beyond. One of the most popular walks is Wainwright’s Coast to Coast, which passes through Richmond taking you through some breathtaking countryside with amazing views. To enjoy the wider area visit one of the many pretty Yorkshire towns or villages, such as Thirsk, Ripon, Harrogate, Leyburn, Hawes or Reeth, all of which are close by. There’s also horse racing at Catterick and York racecourses. The cathedral cities of Durham and York are within a short drive, and are certainly worth a day trip to explore, as is historic Barnard Castle and Bowes Museum. Shop, pub and restaurant 100 yards.
