Despite a heatwave for the first few days of our weeks stay, the cottage stayed cool and well-aired, largely due to the extremely thick walls. Although opposite the beautiful village Church, the bells were rarely rung, and at night/early morning, the only sounds we heard were cattle in a field to the rear, horses hooves clattering on the road to the front, and the odd walker along the long-distance Offa´s Dyke path which goes right through the village. Despite very close proximity to the wonderful Village Community Shop & Cafe (well-stocked, with ever friendly & helpful Volunteer Staff, and a nice place to grab a drink and a snack/light meal), car traffic was minimal, and even the frequent bus service turned around at the end of the road. All the rooms were spacious, but although with a bit of re-arranging, some useful hanging and a little shelf space was achieved in the 2 cupboards in the bedrooms, we actually used the single beds to lay out most of our cloths, and so the spare bedroom became a dressing room. The shower was excellent, with great water pressure and plenty of hot water, and lots of towels and flannels were helpfully provided. The kitchen was very well stocked, and with plenty of room to sit around the dining table, and a large fridge-freezer was very useful in the hot weather. 2 pairs of binoculars were at hand, and we hoped to see some exotic birdlife, but sadly only numerous Sparrows (with their young birds), some Turtle/Collared Doves, the odd Hooded Crow and a Magpie were the only regular visitors, especially to the large bird-bath, which we kept full of fresh water with the watering can provided by the outside water tap; oh yes, and 1 large Grey Squirrel paid us a visit too. From the village we could quickly get onto 4 main roads in every direction, and we easily had days out to Chester (the ony rainy day; good P & R to the City centre from the Wrexham Road), the N. Wales Coast & adjacent small market Towns i.e. Ruthin, Denbigh, Mold, St.Asaph´s etc., Snowdonia incl. beautiful Lake Bala, the Horseshoe Falls near Llangollen (nearest town of any size), the Irish Sea coastline and the Isle of Anglesey, and we happened upon many nice country Pubs and Cafes in the vicinity. Apart from the lack of a decent chest of drawers - if we´d been 4 instead of 2 people, storage of clothes would have been a more serious problem - the width of the double-bed in what is otherwise a very large bedroom was a bit of a problem, and perhaps 1 bedside table needs to be sacrificed in order to accomodate a wider bed? Beyond that, any other teething problems were swiftly handled per telephone contact with the friendly lady handling the rental, and we´d thoroughly recommend the Bellringers Cottage, the village and general area to anybody else!

My daughter and I stayed in Bellringer's Cottage for a week at the start of July. As soon as we walked in it felt welcoming and cosy. It was immaculately clean, with a wonderful welcome hamper for us and our dog. There was a dog bed, bowls and towels, which made things so easy. It is easily the best provisioned cottage I've stayed in. Carol clearly works hard to provide a home from home, and it shows. The village is beautiful and quiet, and the locals very friendly and helpful. The village shop was lovely, with an excellent full Welsh breakfast in the café.The car park permit for Llandegla Forest that was provided was very useful, as there are several beautiful walks up there. Moel Famau, Castell Dinas Brân, Old Colwyn beach and Denbigh Castle were highlights of our trip. It was such a wonderfully relaxing and interesting week that we have decided to go again. Thank you so much Carol (and Dawn who makes it so spotlessly clean!).
