Guests say

Hollytree Cottage is a well-regarded property in a charming village, praised for its comfortable furnishings, well-equipped kitchen, and cosy atmosphere. Guests have enjoyed the local amenities, including pubs and a brewery within walking distance. The property's historical charm and quiet location add to its appeal, making it a favourite for many.

The cottage received mixed feedback on cleanliness. While some guests found it clean, others noted issues such as cobwebs, dog hairs, and a lack of attention to detail. These points suggest room for improvement.

The location is highly praised for its convenience to local shops, pubs, and historical sites. The village setting is appreciated for its tranquillity and friendly atmosphere, contributing to a peaceful stay.

Guests have consistently noted the comfortable beds and sofas, as well as the coolness of the cottage during a heatwave. The property's cosy feel and quiet environment have been highlighted as key comfort factors.

Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and good water pressure in the shower. However, some maintenance issues like broken lights and the need for additional bins were mentioned. The lack of wardrobes was also noted.

There is insufficient information to assess thoughtfulness as it pertains to gifts, as they are not consistently mentioned across the reviews. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

About this property

Sitting in the heart of "ol' Hooky" (Hook Norton village) and around the corner from some cracking country pubs, "Hollytree Cottage" is just the perfect and typical Cotswolds' cottage. Hundreds of years old (check out the old pics on the walls!) this sweet and charming cottage retains all its period charm but with much added comfort and style. Fresh colours, limestone floors and a roaring wood burner make this just the perfect retreat. The kitchen / diner is modern yet cosy - all beams and flagstone floors, the living room is spacious with super comfy sofas, while upstairs are three good sized bedrooms, each smart and simple in presentation with very comfortable beds.

There's a garden outside - but with a host of village pubs within walking distance you may prefer to take the fresh air when strolling for lunch or otherwise! This is a blissful retreat where you are convenient for a host of Cotswolds gems. If you're so inclined Daylesford and Soho Farmhouse are nearby, otherwise Chipping Norton is just 7 mins drive away. We love it here and believe you will and your pooch too!

A picturesque village with many honey-coloured historic buildings, thatched cottages, a thriving community and its very own steam driven brewery, the last of its kind in the country. The village boasts a well-stocked shop, Post Office, several pubs and restaurants and many lovely walks can be enjoyed from the village with the D'Arcy Dalton Way passing through the village. The market town of Chipping Norton lies south of the village in the Cotswold Hills, plays host to many festivals throughout the year, has an abundance of shops, cafes and restaurants as well as a theatre and the oldest golf course in Oxfordshire. Historic Banbury nestles on the banks of the River Cherwell in the Cherwell Valley and offers many restaurants, cafes, a canalside museum, cinema and local theatre, plus the annual Banbury Folk Festival attracts many visitors each year. Blenheim Place, the ancestral home of Sir Winston Churchill is also close by. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and known as ‘The City of Dreaming Spires’ has an abundance of attractions, namely the 38 colleges of the university, the oldest university teaching room, Bodleian Library, Botanic Gardens and museums, as well as playing host to many festivals and markets. Stratford-upon-Avon, birthplace of William Shakespeare, Warwick with its magnificent castle and Royal Leamington Spa make a lovely day out. Enjoy many types of motor and superbike racing at Silverstone or spend a day shopping at Bicester Village Designer Outlet.

We took our 2-year-old daughter with another family and their 2-year-old. The property was perfect and we really appreciated the baby gates (even if they did eventually figure out how to slide up onto the stairs from underneath). We loved the style of the place and the village that it’s nestled in. We don’t get houses like this back in our home country of Australia. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.

Nothing to add to our previous review, everything was delightful (and so handy to have the car close by for loading when it rained). Thanks once again

Had a very special feel about it. Was once the home of my Great Grandfather. Much improved from his days, I'm sure.
