About this property

A really lovely conversion of a stone semi-detached outbuilding in the heart of Bradwell in the Hope Valley situated next to the owner's home. The barn was once used as a coach house and an interesting exterior feature is the restored brass fuel pump. As the cottage is in the centre of the village, just across from the village green and park, it's equally suitable for a group of friends or a small family. On the first floor the twin and king size bedrooms are comfortably and tastefully furnished. The bathroom is equipped with a luxurious dual overhead and hand set shower unit.

The ground floor features a well-appointed kitchen diner equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge with small freezer compartment, microwave and gas hob with electric fan oven. The cosy sitting room with its traditional decor and convenience of a living-flame gas stove, is the perfect place to relax. The property has gas central heating in all rooms. A small area outside the front door with a bistro set is a great place to take in the evening air and people watch to the backing soundtrack of the babbling brook. If the kids still have gas in their tanks, there's a play area within sight just across the way.

From the cottage itself there are impressive views of Bradwell Edge and a host of interesting walks around the local area. The park opposite the barn there is a very pleasant open-air café open Thursday - Sunday all year round serving fabulous home made cakes. Bradwell village offers the convenience of three pubs which all serve appetising food. For your self-catering needs there is a local supermarket, Post Office, bakery, fish and chip shop! Slightly further afield you can potter around the historic market town of Bakewell, or the spa town of Buxton, renowned for its spring water, opera house and arts, jazz and opera festivals.

It is easy to spend a whole day at Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, with many historic properties nearby. Whatever time of year you jump on board, this cottage is just the ticket.

The bedroom was warm and cozy, too comfortable didn't want to get up! The lounge was perfect, the Tv good size and the Wifi brilliant! The kitchen was nice to sit and eat our meal in. Only problem was that one of the metal pans handles got very hot, so much so we had to get a cloth to lift it off the rings. So did the lid which fitted it. Be careful not to burn yourself. Would defiantly come again M&T

Jenny and Andrew are lovely hosts who wanted to ensure we was warm and had everything we needed. 5* can't recommend Brookside Barn enough.

It was warm and cosy, the bed was comfortable, and there was everything you could need for a super holiday. The owners were very helpful and friendly without being intrusive, even lending de-icer for the car on our last morning. The village is great as it is not too touristy, but had three pubs, a coffee shop, and chippy and a well equipped Co-op (even a wool shop!). We had some lovely walks in the area and visited Castleton, and Derwentwater as well as the Bakewell Christmas market (get there early!). We had a wonderful relaxing break and I would highly recommend this cottage.
