Guests appreciate the cottage's cleanliness, comfort, and picturesque location, ideal for exploring Yorkshire. While the property is well-regarded for its homely feel and enclosed garden, some concerns about road safety, shower pressure, and the need for a welcome pack are noted.
The cottage is consistently described as clean and well-presented, with several reviews highlighting its spotlessness. However, a few guests mentioned areas that could benefit from deeper cleaning, slightly impacting the score.
The location is praised for its proximity to local attractions and the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales. However, the proximity to a busy road and the difficulty of accessing amenities without a car have affected the score.
Many guests found the cottage comfortable, with a cosy atmosphere and a secure garden for dogs. Some concerns about the bed height and traffic noise slightly lower the score.
Facilities are generally adequate, but several guests reported issues with the shower pressure and lack of WiFi. The absence of a welcome pack and some kitchen equipment also suggests room for improvement.
There is insufficient information to score thoughtfulness as there are no specific mentions of gifts or extra touches that would indicate the level of thoughtfulness provided by the host.
Ripley 1 mile. An attractive mid-terrace, stone-built cottage situated in lovely rolling countryside, in the hamlet of Bedlam, just one mile from Ripley and four miles from Harrogate. Warm and inviting, this cottage provides a perfect base for touring this beautiful area. Well presented throughout, there is a cosy sitting room, a modern well-equipped kitchen, a modern shower room with a multi-jet shower, a lovely double bedroom and a dressing room. Outside is a spacious front and rear garden area and patio, which is a delightful spot to sit with a coffee in the sunshine. A short drive away is the ancient market town of Knaresborough, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales.
The town is very popular with visitors to the area as it overlooks the River Nidd and is considered one of the prettiest towns in North Yorkshire. There are many day trips on offer in the area, with some well worth a visit including, The House in the Rock, Ye Oldest Chymist Shoppe in England, dating back to 1720, the Courthouse Museum and Mother Shipton's Cave. Guests can enjoy excellent walks by the river, climbing, fishing, cycling, boating or just enjoying the tranquil atmosphere and stunning scenery of this area. A wonderful cottage at any time of year.
Ripley is a small and unspoilt village in Uredale, originally designed and built in the 1830's by Sir William Amcotts Ingilby. The village boasts a lovely castle in the centre (still home to the Ingilby family) where deer graze in the grounds and there are beautiful gardens open to the public which have bridges, waterfalls and a lake. The castle also has a shop and tea-rooms. The centre of Ripley has a large cobbled market place which is overlooked by the Boar's Head - an old coaching inn with an excellent bar, restaurant and bistro. The village also has a store, an ice cream parlour, an art gallery, a butcher's and much more.

This has been mentioned in quite a lot of the reviews and it needs doing.

Cottage was comfortable and kitchen well-equipped, although oven and microwave could do with a deep clean. Garden excellent for dogs. Parking space fine but access quite tight!
Janet
Owner very helpful. The only criticism would be the lack of pressure in the shower.
