The house is located on the Fosse Way, (this is the infamous main road between Cirencester and Stow)approx 5 mins from the heart of the heart of the market town of Stow on the Wold. The quality touches are evident throughout - Farrow and Ball colours, Robert Welch cutlery and Denby crockery all add to the appeal of this large holiday home. The highest town in the Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises olde worlde England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly Farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antique shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum.

The large lounge gave us plenty of space to enjoy relaxing evenings and it was lovely to have our meals all together in one dining room. The games room was a real hit. I would just say that families need to be aware that you have to cross a busy main road if you want to walk into Stow on the Wold as the only footpath is on the other side. However, the quality of the property makes that well worth putting up with.

Accommodation was perfect for 21 adults - very well equipped with everything you could possibly need and a great space for hosting and relaxing but giving people their own space to relax. The 2 kitchens, lounges, games room and garden meant it was easy to host for that number of people. Sykes were difficult to get hold of in the day's before the booking and were very vague in what was provided even when directly asked which meant we bought a load of household items that we then didn't use as the house had everything. Not a fault of the accommodation itself though and would stay there again!

We were very comfortable and 20 of us aged from 0-67 were well-catered for. The big dining room was great for us all eating together and the two dishwashers very helpful for the clearing up. The dogs loved the big garden. The children enjoyed the games room and the different shaped baths! The road outside is very busy and it is necessary to cross it to walk into Stow, as there is no pavement on the house side of the road, so great care is needed. People on the top floor commented on a number of dead woodlice, so maybe it is sometimes a bit damp there, but during our stay it was warm and cosy. There is lots to do in the beautiful surrounding area. We are three extended families who holiday together every year and it is becoming more and more difficult to find a place to accommodate us, but South Hill Farmhouse ticked all the boxes.
