Nearby is Gatcombe Park, the home of the Princess Royal. There are some lovely walks around the village and surrounding beautiful countryside. The cottage and its location were lovely, and we really enjoyed our stay. My only qualm is that it would have been nice to receive a small welcome pack — perhaps some milk and a few biscuits — especially after a long journey. We arrived in the late evening and had to go out to find a shop, which wasn’t ideal. At other cottages we’ve stayed in, a small welcome gesture has always been provided, and it really is the little details that make a difference.Although there was a log burner, there were only two firelighters, so we had to go out and buy more. That said, overall the cottage and the surrounding area are lovely, and I would recommend it.

Absolutely beautiful cottage , within easy reach of so many amenities. Would highly recommend for couples, with or without a dog, we had an absolutely fantastic stay. It really felt like home from home! Thank you for allowing us to stay , we had the best time
