Jasmine Cottage is a beautiful 300-year-old Cotswold stone cottage nestled in the quiet, unspoilt village of Windrush. Surrounded by National Trust land, there are numerous walks in the stunning Windrush valley leading to water meadows and idyllic villages. Wildlife and birds are abundant and you will often see foxes, badgers, hares, deer and many beautiful species of birds and wildflowers. It is a perfect cottage to relax by the fire and unwind.

Your home-away-from-home is equipped to make your stay as relaxed as possible with antique furniture, designer sofas, a claw-foot bath, luxury Molton Brown toiletries, comfortable beds and big fluffy bath sheets. This is the perfect cottage to escape from the pressures of the world without having to climb into a car.

Enter this pretty cottage into a light-filled hallway with stone flooring, mullion window and plenty of space for muddy boots and coats. Through the latch door is a cosy sitting room, with exposed beams, two mullion windows, a window seat to watch the world go by, and of course, the beautiful stone fireplace with wood burning stove laid up and ready to light on your arrival. The cottage kitchen is to the rear of the property and, although small, is filled with light and well-equipped with everything you'll need to prepare and enjoy the wonderful local produce on offer. A small dining area in the kitchen leads you out to the charming patio with garden furniture where you can enjoy al-fresco meals on warm summer days whilst admiring the wonderful garden foliage and flowers which surround you. Climb a few steps up to the main garden area, mostly laid to lawn with herbaceous borders with a bistro table and chairs. Parents will need to be mindful here of a 5' drop back down to the patio area, shielded by a hedge.

When you want to eat out, the historic Fox Inn is a 20 minute walk across the fields. Walkers will enjoy the two mile ramble along the valley to the National Trust village of Sherborne, where the village shop serves excellent breakfasts, lunches and delicious homemade cakes.

We thought the cottage was lovely, clean and had most things we needed. The kitchen cupboards however were so full there wasn’t room for our groceries. We were very grateful for the unexpected treats of tea, coffee, biscuits oil, eggs and apple juice. The bed was hard but worse than that the duvet was a 13.5 tog and we were at the cottage in the hottest week of the year! We couldn’t see an alternative so slept under the empty cover. The sofas were also somewhat uncomfortable. We found the price we paid for the week very expensive as it was almost double what we had paid in a tenancy cottage in Devon.

Most picture perfect homely cosy, warm Cotswold cottage. Great welcome hamper, spotlessly clean cottage. Well equipped throughout. Absolute perfect girlie weekend stay , truly relaxing quiet location. Only faults I have : - a) would have nice to have been told before arriving that the neighbour next door had right of way around the outside of the cottage.... getting rid of garden waste. b)Also paid extra for a guest bed £25.00 at booking stage which was actually a sofa bed in the lounge, after phoning Rural Retreats on arrival to ask where the quest bed was.
