Doves Nest is a wonderful property located just outside of Ashbourne’s town centre, the perfect location to explore the town and all it has to offer whilst being able to return to this quiet nest come the end of the day. Ashbourne has a good selection of independent and high street shops, supermarkets, leisure centres, bars and restaurants to be enjoyed, as well as being one of the best locations in the Peaks for walking and cycling.
Just a short drive from the house is Dovedale, known famously for its unique feature of stepping stones across the River Dove, where you can take a fantastic walk to Ilam and across Thorpe Cloud where your views are stunning, the Tissington Trail also has a great route and perfect for cycling, as well as Carsington Water which is an 8-mile stretch around the reservoir which also offers many water sports. Alton Towers is a keen favourite for holidaymakers staying in Ashbourne as it is just a short 15-minute drive away to adrenaline fun. There are plenty of options here for all the family and friends to ensure you are all making memorable moments together.
Doves Nest offers modern and spacious accommodation for up to ten guests. On the ground floor is an open plan kitchen/dining room with bi-fold doors opening out into the extensive garden featuring a hot tub making a great hub for you to gather and enjoy your social time. There is also a separate utility room, great for storing boots or any clothes that could get mucky ambling those Peak District hills. There is a comfortable lliving room at the front of the house with bay windows and a Smart TV, and a downstairs separate toilet. The first floor offers four double bedrooms; the master has an en-suite shower room and there is a family bathroom with shower over bath. On the second floor the final double bedroom is located with an en-suite shower room (please note as this room is built into the loft there is restricted ceiling height but it is light and private all the same). There is underfloor heating throughout the property and solar panels placed on the roof. The garden has been lawned and manicured beautifully with a patio area and seating directly outside the kitchen/dining room diner. Doves Nest is the perfect Peak District retreat. Pub and restaurant ¾ mile.

Lovely house, spacious very clean on arrival. Garden great for dogs and kids.Lovely big kitchen and table.Hot tub was great. My son loved it and enjoyed watching bats flying in the garden as the sun went down.Only downside on a busy main road, watch dogs getting out the front door.Blinds not great for keeping the light out. No oven gloves, bring your own.

We had a wonderful time at the Doves Nest, and on the whole it was a great place to stay. But there are areas that can be improved.Pros- The ground floor in general.- Amazing open plan kitchen and dining space. This is where we spent most of our time. It was well equipped and well layed out. It made socialising, cooking and eating as a large family easy and enjoyable. The bi-fold doors were a great feature, allowing effortless access to the garden.- The garden was lovely. The spacious patio provided space to sit and socialise as well as for young ones to play. The lawn was enormous allowing us to play lawn games. The hot tub was a great luxury feature, and was the cherry on top to make this an amazing space.- The large driveway allowed us to park all four of our cars off the road, which removed a lot of stress from the travel and parking side of things.Cons- Elements of the bedrooms and bathrooms need improvement.- The double mattresses in the en-suite and front bedroom on the first floor were poor. They were too thin and provided very little comfort and support. The mattress in the en-suite bedroom was deformed in some way and sagged in the middle, making it feel like sleeping on a slope. It made sleep difficult.- The wooden blinds in all bedrooms let in far too much light making sleep impossible from 5am. The bedrooms need proper blinds or curtains that keep the rooms dark.- Mirror placement in some of the bathrooms were too high, meaning many guests found them difficult to use. This was made worse by the lack of alternative mirrors in the bedrooms.If the shortcomings of the upstairs bathrooms and bedrooms could be addressed, then the Doves Nest would be a practically faultless place to stay.
