South Keswick is also close by, giving guests the opportunity to visit a larger Lake District town during their visit too. Cockermouth's Georgian market is also worth making the 10-minute drive to visit.

Lorton is made up of two small villages Low Lorton and High Lorton, both of which are nestled at the northern end of the Vale of Lorton. Other nearby settlements include Loweswater and Brigham. Whinlatter Pass offers a scenic drive and connects Lorton with Braithwaite. Within an easy drive the nearby town of Cockermouth offers plenty of places to eat and drink and is famous as the birthplace of both William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian.
