Guests say

William Court Cottage is praised for its beautiful, peaceful location on the Irton Hall estate, making it an excellent base for exploring the Western Lakes and coast. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds for many, and the friendly atmosphere at Irton Hall. While some maintenance issues and minor inconveniences are noted, most guests found the cottage clean, cosy, and ideal for families and walkers. The presence of local wildlife and proximity to pubs and cafes add to the charm, ensuring a memorable stay for most visitors.

Most guests found the cottage clean and tidy, with bedding and towels provided. However, a few mentioned areas needing deeper cleaning, such as shower mould and dusty spots, and occasional issues with maintenance affecting perceived cleanliness.

The location is consistently highlighted as a major strength, with guests loving the tranquil setting, beautiful grounds, and easy access to the Lake District, local walks, and nearby pubs and cafes.

Many guests found the cottage comfortable and homely, but several reviews mention issues with mattresses, broken beds, thin curtains, and limited seating, which affected sleep and relaxation for some visitors.

The cottage is generally well-equipped, especially the kitchen, but recurring maintenance issues are noted, including loose taps, broken chairs, WiFi and TV problems, and insufficient crockery. Some guests also mentioned a lack of blackout curtains and minor safety concerns.

Guests appreciated quick responses from the owner in some cases and the provision of essentials like towels and kitchen equipment. No gifts were mentioned, and while some thoughtful touches were noted, these are not guaranteed for all stays.

William Cottage was wonderful. It’s a great property in a lovely surrounding area, making it the perfect base of operations for climbing Scafell Pike. The cottage was equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. While there was a tiny bit of expected wear and tear, it didn't detract from the experience at all. If I had to make one constructive suggestion, it would be adding blackout curtains to the bedrooms. The outside lights are quite bright—though after a long day of hiking, I was far too tired for it to bother me much! Having Irton Hall right on the doorstep was a massive bonus. The staff there were incredibly friendly and the food was delicious. I would stay here again.

It was comfortable and a great site with nice animals too. There was one issue with the door handle mechanism not working on the front room door but other than that everything was great.

Messaged first contact and no reply. Couldn't bath children. Moved bed in double room to accommodate baby as travel cot was mouldy even though they were advised 12 months previous. Dining table and chairs unstable for children. Baby gate had parts missing, so unable to use. No smart tv. WIFI goes off all the time. OK for adults who just want to crash. Wouldn't recommend taking children
