Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom hideaway is tucked away on a pretty street in the market town of Cockermouth, on the edge of the picturesque Lake District National Park. Wander the charming streets of the town, meandering through its independent shops and stocking up on local produce. Discover the National Trust’s Wordsworth House and Garden, 0.5 miles from the cottage, which was the childhood home of the famous poet. Head 5.5 miles to the shores of beautiful Bassenthwaite Lake, with its scenic walks. Plan a trip to Keswick, 13 miles away, where you can take a cruise on Derwentwater or embark upon the 10-mile walk all the way round the lake. While in Keswick, visit its museums and book seats at the Theatre by the Lake.
Step into the pristine cottage from the street and find yourselves in its welcoming lounge. Here, the exposed brick wall and stone fireplace combine with the understated neutral furnishings to provide an ambience of warm welcome and exceptional comfort. Enhance the atmosphere further by lighting the fire in the wood burner before settling on the soft seating. Curl up with a book from the shelves through in the dining room or find a gripping film on the Smart TV. The dining room, towards the back of the cottage, opens conveniently on two sides into the kitchen. Write your postcards home at the table or flick through a local guidebook. The well-fitted kitchen, with its large range-style oven, has everything you need to help you rustle up holiday meals. Dine at the breakfast bar in here or at the table in the dining room. There is also a small garden room. When you are ready to turn in for the night, make your way up the steep, cottage-style stairs to the first floor, where your sumptuous bedrooms are situated. Here you have a double, with an exposed brick wall and steep stairs leading up to a mezzanine level. There is also a welcoming twin bedroom. The immaculate family bathroom offers both a bath and a shower.
Savour the fresh air and sunshine of the private garden on warm days. Make fresh coffee in the machine, then carry it up the steps to the raised deck on summer mornings. There is free on-street parking on Kirkbank or pay-and-display car parking, both 150 metres from the cottage and subject to availability.
