This lovely cottage, just 3 miles from the pretty market town of Cockermouth, is ideal for couples, friends and families with or without four-legged friends looking for an active holiday exploring the north of the Lake District. Conveniently situated on the A595, along an original Roman Road route, there are walks from the doorstep across Millstone Moor and Tallentire Hill. Just 8 miles away is the seaside town of Maryport, with long sandy beaches, an aquarium and a Roman Museum. Walkers, hikers, cyclists and water sports enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice in the local area while staying at this property.
As you enter this welcoming two-storey property, newly refurbished in 2021, you will notice the calmness created by the light hues on the walls and soft tones. The cottage retains its original feel, with exposed wooden ceiling beams and contemporary comforts. Downstairs, the large lounge is to your right off the hallway, offering a wonderful space to relax on the corner sofa while watching your favourite movies on the Smart TV. From the lounge, you have views of the fells in the distance. The country-style kitchen has everything to cook up a storm and a dining table to linger over meals and plan your next adventure. The kitchen opens onto the enclosed courtyard. Upstairs, you'll find a family bathroom and two bedrooms: one twin and one king-size, all with low, sloping ceilings. Step outside into your private gravel courtyard with seating and a BBQ.
You are in the perfect spot to explore the Northern Lakes with Keswick (16 miles) offering a range of walks to suit all abilities, including Latrigg and Walla Crag. Bassenthwaite Lake and the magnificent fells and peaks of Blencathra and Skiddaw are all within 20 miles. If you love mountain biking, Whinlatter Forest (11 miles) is a must-visit for some excellent walking tracks.
