Bears Lodge itself was a very nice and well equipped lodge - however we experienced some maintenance issues on arrival and during our stay - these were rectified mostly as soon as reported and the staff who came out were very polite and supportive. It did impact our stay as we were visiting family and impacted on our timings on 3 days - however, I would hope going forward that any issues in the lodge are reported to the team either by the people staying or cleaning team on turn around. A lovely lodge and site aside the door issues !

It is a shame that location was good and many expensive appliances and furnishings but the lodge cupboard doors and furniture were delaminating. Despite contacting cottages.com after reading previous reviews, we found partly blocked drains on both hand basins, lights not working and filled with flies and dust, an attempt to hide a badly torn net curtain behind a sofa, duvet covers with broken zips, couldn’t make microwave work( eventually found instruction manuals in bottom drawer in bedroom) over frozen freezer ( had to wash out drawer to use it), poor information and welcome pack. Never stayed anywhere that provides a dishwasher with NO tablets,. With some TLC, glue and replacement kitchen unit doors this would be an excellent choice.
