Forrest Lodge offers a peaceful and scenic retreat with spacious, well-equipped accommodation and beautiful views, making it ideal for exploring the Lake District. Guests appreciated the comfortable furnishings, dog-friendly facilities, and proximity to local towns and amenities. While some maintenance and cleanliness issues were noted, most found these did not detract significantly from their stay. The lodge is particularly suited to those seeking a quiet getaway with easy access to both countryside and local services.
Most guests found the lodge clean and tidy, but several mentioned issues such as dust, mould on shower sealant, stains on the kitchen floor, and a persistent damp smell. These concerns were balanced by positive comments about general cleanliness.
The lodge is praised for its peaceful setting, scenic views, and convenient access to local towns and the Lake District. Some guests noted the lack of public footpaths and the need to drive for activities, but overall the location was highly regarded.
Guests generally found the lodge comfortable, with cosy furnishings and good heating. However, some reported uncomfortable mattresses and minor disturbances from maintenance activity, which affected their sleep quality.
The lodge is well-equipped with kitchen essentials, a dishwasher, and a washing machine. However, issues such as a non-functioning oven, problematic shower, lack of WiFi, and some worn furniture were noted. Most facilities met expectations, but maintenance is needed.
Guests appreciated the well-stocked kitchen, spare linens, and the owner's gesture of providing an air fryer and a partial refund when the oven was out of order. Please note that such gestures are not guaranteed for all stays.

The Forrest Lodge is in a very nice, peaceful park with an onsite dog park which was a nice surprise, and next door to a garden centre with a cafe so you can stop for food if you arrive early as we did. We stayed here for 1 week and upon arrival there was an information folder inside the lodge for how to use the kitchen equipment, recommended activities, important information etc. The book advised there was another key in the kitchen in addition to the one in the key lock, there wasn't one there though. We used the oven once to make some oven chips which should take 20 minutes, they took 1hr 30 in the oven so used the airfryer for meals moving forward. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and cutlery, a dishwasher (the book said there was a dishwasher tablet available but there wasn't, we didn't expect this though) and washing machine. There were two bedrooms, one with 2 single beds in and 1 with a double bed, plus a pull out bed in the living room, the mattress on the double bed was quite uncomfortable and every time one of us moved it woke the other up as the whole mattress would wobble, the single beds were a slightly more comfortable. The double bedroom also had an ensuite bathroom with a large bath. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and on the surface the lodge was very nice but did show signs of wear and tear / age. Some of the wooden furniture is held together with tape (wardrobes, coffee table, cupboard doors) there were stains on the kitchen floor which we assumed that someone had maybe spilt something previously however on the last day of our stay there was a thunderstorm and we discovered that the water leaked into the kitchen through the roof by the front door, we looked to contact the customer support team to let them know however it was 4am and the urgent number, according to the information book, was only available to call between 5.30pm-9.30pm. There is also no WiFi but our phone signal was fine in the area if internet is required. Finally, at the back of the house is a storage shed which seems to hold maintenance equipment for the whole park, where the maintenance team were in and out a couple of times during our stay, we only had one car with us but I imagine if we had brought two cars they would have had to squeeze equipment past the cars. For the price we paid we were happy with our stay however when I have looked to book again the price is quite a lot higher than we paid which I wouldn't be happy about paying given the improvements that are needed in the house.

Had plenty of cleanliness issues or the lack off when we areived. The lodge smelt really bad of dampness it had obvious signs of an issue. The smell did not go away the full time we stayed at the lodge wich was 4 nights, even with the windows open at all times but night. There was a very large stain on kitchen floor. first thing you see opening the door very off putting. We disnt sleep well as the mattress was very uncomfortable and lumpy. The owner is aware of the issues as well as the caravan site its on as i spoke to the site manager and she said that the owner was aware but finding it difficult to sort the problem maybe as they live down south and dont visit the lodge. its a pitty about teh many issues as the lodge sits in a lovely peaceful setting. I could nit stay at the lodge again as the smell of dampness was so bad. Even though i emailed both company booked through cottages.com and the. caravan site, nothing was done to offer us another lodge or offer us a refund nothing . very disappointing, especially when individuals are aware of what needs done ro the lodge but hapoy to keep hiring it out

We booked Forest Lodge as we were meeting friends in Keswick and it was convenient for there. The lodge was fine, but it does need a bit of maintenance outside and in.
