Bram Cragg Barn is a stunning conversion created from the former 19th-century byre and barn to a holiday home with a wonderful mix of oak beams and slate features combined with stylish modern fittings. The spacious open plan living room is at first floor level to take advantage of the views across the valley, and the dining area has a large oak table with eight upholstered chairs. The barn stands detached, adjacent to the owners’ home and two holiday lodges, in an idyllic and peaceful setting. There are unspoilt views in every direction towards Helvellyn and Castle Rock, Blencathra, Skiddaw and High and Low Rigg. The location is delightful, farm animals graze close to the barn and footpaths directly from the house give access not only to the more challenging walking routes but to gentle strolls. The scenery is spectacular and walkers, cyclists and drivers will find the immediate surroundings breathtaking. Central for exploring the Lake District National Park. Shop 4½ miles, pub and restaurant 2½miles.

This was our 4th year at Bram Crag with our 3-generation family and, very sadly, it will be the last time as our family has now outgrown the property. Our 4 grandchildren, aged 2-5yrs have had the most amazing experiences here and they really don't want to holiday elsewhere - in the words of the oldest grandchild ' We don't like Bram Crag. We LOVE it'. The layout of the accommodation is ideally suited to families with a very large open plan kitchen, dining area and lounge. The property is fully equipped for self catering - we have only needed to bring food, unlike some properties where we have had to take extra cutlery, crockery, utensils etc. Sainsbury's deliver to this property and Keswick (8 miles away) has a Booths and Co-op supermarkets plus a lovely choice of other shops.All the bedrooms are a good size and three of the four bedrooms accommodate travel cots. The beds are very comfortable - firm without being hard. Ensuites are spacious.The property is well maintained and clean. The laundry room is ideal. The outdoor space provides a secure garden with large covered patio, furniture and gas BBQ. Small paddling pool also provided. There is plenty of parking - could easily accommodate 5 cars.Being an 'upside down house' it overlooks the beautiful Lakes hills and fields - the grazing cows and sheep are a favourite of the children. Additionally, there is a large secure grassed area for outdoor games - with football goals, swing ball and other equipment provided plus a tyre swing in the tree. Bram Crag is situated in the middle of the quiet and tranquil St John's in the Vale with the nearest property several hundred metres away so there is no nuisance if the children are lively at play. As the nearest road is about 200m away, the children can safely ride their bikes around the property. Local activities - as well as great walks and cycle trails, Rookery Woods at the nearby Keswick Climbing Wall Centre is a large wooden outdoor play area for the children with an array of tunnels, slides, maze, climbing structures and mini zip wire etc. Within 30-45 mins away, we visited the popular Aira Force waterfalls, Tarn Howes, Grasmere, Ambleside, Grizedale Mountain Park and used our kayaks on Derwent Water ( we found a great spot only a few minutes from the road near Ashness Bridge, overlooking Cat Bells ).The owners; Mr & Mrs Stuart, have really created a home from home with small touches such as boxes of Duplo bricks for the children, and complimentary wine, cookies, dog treat, milk, butter and eggs upon arrival.Thank you both for 4 wonderful holidays. All of us, but especially our grandchildren are very sad and disappointed at not being able to return again.

Family stayed at Bram Crag barn in July! It’s a lovely well equipped house in a stunning location! Every bedroom had en-suite amenities! Lovely outdoor area and scenery was beautiful all around!
