Ullswater, the most romantic of the lakes, is easily accessible and for a special occasion, why not book a meal at the renowned Sharrow Bay Hotel, home of the sticky toffee pudding

If you want to experience the South Lakes, take a drive over the scenic Kirkstone Pass towards Ambleside and Lake Windermere.
