Greengarth is a well-loved holiday cottage in Keswick, praised for its comfortable furnishings, stunning views, and convenient location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, secure garden, and the property's proximity to town. While some minor maintenance issues and a lack of welcome treats are noted, the overall sentiment is positive, with many guests returning and recommending the property.
The property is generally maintained to a high standard of cleanliness, with several reviews noting it as 'spotless'. However, there are isolated comments on areas needing attention, such as mould around the bath and grubby skirting boards, which slightly detract from an otherwise excellent rating.
The location is highly praised for being peaceful, with fantastic views and proximity to Keswick town centre. It offers easy access to local amenities and scenic walks, making it an ideal base for exploring the Lake District.
Guests find the property very comfortable, particularly highlighting the beds and the open-plan downstairs area. Some guests mentioned the pillows being uncomfortable and the duvets being too warm, suggesting room for improvement in bedding comfort.
The property is well-equipped, especially the kitchen, and guests enjoy features like the bi-fold doors and garden. However, there are recurring issues with maintenance such as the dishwasher, dryer, and bins not being collected. These issues indicate a need for better upkeep of facilities.

A flat easy walk from the town centre and the market square, Greengarth is located in the popular Crosthwaite area of Keswick and is a modern semi which has been extended to give a light and airy open plan living space.
You enter into ground floor open plan living, with spectacular bi-fold doors, opening directly onto the patio and garden and offer wonderful views to Skiddaw, one of the Lake District's highest mountains. The lounge area, with welcoming woodburning stove, has comfortable leather sofa and armchairs and large screen Smart TV. The quality kitchen is well-equipped with electric hob and oven, fridge, freezer and dishwasher and breakfast bar. The large family dining table sits in front of the bi-fold doors making it the ideal spot to socialise with friends and family. There is a small utility area with washer/dryer and there is also a convenient downstairs WC. Upstairs there are three bright, modern and airy bedrooms, the first offers a king-size bed, views to Skiddaw and TV. The second has a zip link super king size bed (this can be made up as a twin room on request); this room has a TV and views above the rooftops to Cat Bells, Robinson and the mountains of the Newlands Valley. The third is a pretty single bedroom. There is also a contemporary bathroom which includes a bath which is set along a fabulous feature slate wall, with monsoon shower over, a basin, WC and LED sensor mirror. To the front of Greengarth there is private parking for two cars and to the rear there is a large patio area with table and chairs making it the ideal spot to relax with a glass of wine, morning coffee or dinner on a summers evening and beyond a pretty, lawned, cottage garden with herbaceous borders and mature shrubs.
Keswick is a friendly market town who’s twice weekly market recently won the coveted ‘Best Outdoor Market’ award. There’s also a fantastic array of shops offering everything from craft bakeries and local produce, antiques, crafts and outdoor clothing. There’s also a delicious range of pubs, restaurants, bistros, cafes and wine bars, and a quirky 100-year-old Alhambra Cinema, offering first class cinema entertainment in traditional surroundings, or enjoy some live theatre or music at the Theatre By The Lake on the shores of Derwentwater. Beautiful Derwentwater offers serene lake cruises, rowboat hire and paddle board activities. Nearby you are spoilt for choice with walks up Cat Bells, Skiddaw, Coledale Horseshoe and Blencathra or Latrigg for a lovely easy walk with a view. Ashness Bridge and Surprise View a short drive away above the Borrowdale Valley should not be missed; nor should the unspoilt village of Watendlath.
The popular town of Keswick is the holiday centre of the North of the Lake District and has plenty to offer the visitor at any time of year. The town boasts numerous shops and restaurants to suit all tastes, as well as offering miniature golf, excellent parks, the famous Theatre by the Lake, a charming cinema, the Pencil Museum, a climbing wall, fishing and great mountain biking opportunities, whilst the beautiful lake of Derwentwater at the head of the stunning Borrowdale Valley is only a few minutes walk from the town centre. Nearby, between Braithwaite and Buttermere is the beautiful Newlands Valley, while picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake is well worth a visit. From a gentle countryside ramble to a challenging hike up Skiddaw or the famous Catbells, there really is something for everyone. Visit Castlerigg Stone Circle, the Jennings Brewery and Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the Bassenthwaite Lake, or take a fabulous boat trip around Derwentwater. With plenty of attractions for the kids, lovely parks and the nearby Lake District Wildlife Park this is a great Lakeland destination whatever the time of year.
