Barn Roost is a well-received cottage, praised for its cleanliness, cosy atmosphere, and well-equipped kitchen. Its peaceful location in Cumbria is appreciated by guests seeking tranquillity and proximity to the Lake District. The enclosed garden is a hit with dog owners, and the property's rustic charm adds to the overall positive experience. Some minor issues with comfort and maintenance are noted, but the overall sentiment is one of satisfaction and a desire to return.
The cottage consistently receives high marks for cleanliness, with guests describing it as 'spotless', 'tidy', and 'very clean'. The attention to cleanliness contributes significantly to the positive experiences reported by visitors.
The location is highly regarded for its tranquillity and proximity to the Lake District, with easy access to local walks and scenic drives. Some guests found the remoteness less convenient for amenities, but the peaceful setting is generally seen as a positive aspect.
While many guests find the cottage cosy and the bedding comfortable, there are several mentions of uncomfortable sofas and a bed that could benefit from a new mattress. These comfort issues slightly detract from an otherwise positive assessment.
The cottage is praised for its well-equipped kitchen and useful conservatory for drying clothes. However, some guests mention issues with the shower, heating, and a temperamental cooker, indicating room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.
There are mixed comments regarding thoughtfulness, with some guests suggesting the addition of a welcome pack and local amenity guides. However, as there are no specific mentions of gifts, it is not possible to accurately score this category.

Had a problem with no hot water. The issue I had was that when I wanted to report the issue ALL phone numbers provided were closed for the evening/ night. Totally unacceptable. Once I had reported it the next morning I was told it would be fixed thatday and when I came back in the afternoon it was. No problem once reported but there should be out of hours contact
