A converted Lakeland piggery set in a blissfully secluded setting in the village of Glenridding with breathtaking Ullswater and Glenridding Beck on your doorstep. The cottage was once a piggery and the location is truly romantic with wonderful views.
Explore the southern end of the Lake District. With a five minute walk from the cottage door you will find Glenridding, a popular little village and an excellent base to explore plentiful challenging peaks, but especially Helvellyn and Striding Edge. The village of Patterdale is a ten minute walk in the opposite direction, where the Coast to Coast walk passes through, and offers pubs and a village shop.
The Piggery opens into a large Utility/Boot Room where theres ample of places to dry boots and clothing. Here too is the utility room. This is also a great space for dogs to chill. Please bear in mind this is shared with the owners as storage.
From here a door opens into the lounge with a dining area. A slate floor and a feature fireplace with woodburning stove and comfortable sofas let you watch TV or relax in and watch your favourite film.
The kitchen is well equipped and just the place to cook up a hearty breakfast before a day on the fells or a romantic dinner for two.
Glenridding is a wonderful lakeside village, hugging the southern edge of Ullswater in the wondrous Lake District National Park. It offers the essentials of a convenience store, a café and a selection of characterful pubs. Some of the pubs overlook the picturesque Ullswater lake where you can try your hand at some exhilarating outdoor pursuits, or perhaps take a soothing cruise on one of the Ullswater Steamers. The area is popular with mountain walkers as there are seemingly endless opportunities nearby, above the village sits the Greenside Mine, this 18th century lead mine is the reason for the maintaining of the village's economy. There is much to do close by, with the wonderful twin towns of Bowness and Windermere just over 12 miles away, offering something to suit every age, taste and ability.
