"The dog walking area could be better sihn posted."
    Miss Newsome – 1 Aug 2020
" Looked right out over the trees. Felt like we were in a tree house. The lodge itself had a really homely feel to it. Had everything you could need. Owners were really helpful when we contacted them. The park itself was lovely. Great views over the lake. Just lovely. Would definitely return. Thank you for a lovely break. "
    Mr Helm – 1 Mar 2020
"Loved the private location and views felt like you were up in the tree tops . Lodge very well equipped plenty of cooking items so making meals excellent . Comfy beds and plenty of hot water for all to shower etc ... loved the bird feeder outside easy to sit and watch woodland birds . Even got a small deer last morning . Very dog friendly too . Will definitely be back soon to this lovely place ."
    mikemI3293CQ – 1 Jan 2020
"What a fabulous homely lodge. Hosts had taken the trouble to leave us a Christmas gift and had decorated the lodge to make it festive. Everything you could need was provided. The facilities on site are great and there is plenty to see and do in the Lakes. We had a fantastic time. Thanks so much. Only minor irritation was the neighbouring lodge blocked out parking a couple of times due to the number of vehicles they had. Other than that it was perfect!"
    Mrs Walters – 1 Aug 2019
" There were louvre doors on the wardrobes and they let in a lot of damp air from bathroom. There was mould in the wardrobes and it caused us to struggle at night with breathing. My husband has an inhaler anyway and although I don't normally suffer with breathing issues, I certainly did on this holiday. Since arriving home, it has totally cleared up. "
    Mrs Humphrey – 1 Jul 2019
    " Lovely location "
    Mr De Silva – 1 Jul 2019
" It was clean, comfy and peaceful. My family and I had a wonderful time here. I would recommend this place to anyone. "
    Mrs Hargrave – 1 Jun 2019
" This alternative had a brilliant location, everything that we needed for a 6 month old and on a lovely site. "
    Miss Talbot – 1 May 2019
" Great for families or a comfortable peaceful retreat. Everything we needed was included and much more. It was like home from home. The patio is superb and feels as though you are in the tree tops. Beautiful. "
    Mrs Panter – 1 Apr 2019
" As we booked with it would have been useful to have their contact details . Accommodation was lovely and the lodge in a lovely position "
    Mrs Walker – 1 Apr 2019
" The lodge was ideally located to explore the lakes and the facilities on site were excellent. The lodge did provide everything to make our stay comfortable. However, we felt let down on the cleanliness in the lodge. oven trays were dirty and greasy as if they had been put back after being used without being washed. Under the sofa's were wrappers, straws cob webs and lots of dust. Down the sides of the single beds were lots of cob webs one containing a dead spider. We were very lucky with the weather during our stay, sitting outside was a little spoilt by the cobwebs hanging from the roof. It was pleasant watching a variety of birds feeding from the bird feeder on the decking. The feeder did appear to be in the wrong place, being in the middle left the area covered in bird poo. It was not pleasant to sit and look at. ( I do have photographs if required) We do run our own business and always welcome feedback as ways to improve. I hope you find our comments useful. "
    Mrs Edwards
" The lodge was very warm and cosy. The bedrooms were spacious and has had comfortable beds. The shower was very good. The kitchen was well stocked with all you would need while away e.g. cups, glasses, plates etc. The site is centrally situated for Ambleside and Bowness. "

"I cannot recommend Striding Edge Lodge highly enough. My partner I and our baby have had the best time staying here ..."
    Mrs Jones
"The Lodge was comfortable, homely, well equipped and well looked after by the owners. With White Cross Bay, location in the Park itself is crucial and Striding Edge is very well located, being high up with the verandah facing away from the road, towards the tops of the trees. We took 2 dogs and it was perfect for them, with an enclosed verandah and woods where we could walk them just across from the lodge. There’s a bird feeder on the verandah that attracts a wide variety of small birds. We filled it up and found it very relaxing just sitting watching the birds either from the verandah or through the lodge windows from the sitting room area. There is ample parking and it is a good base from which to enjoy the Lake District, with many attractions nearby. We would definitely book this lodge again. The booking process through was easy and everything went very smoothly, so we wouldn’t hesitate to book again with ."

"We booked that very place last year and did again this year so evidence that we like it"
    - A FlipKey verified reviewer, September 2012
"The staff were friendly and helpful from the very start. We loved our log cabin, which was very spacious and had a lovely view from the porch. Bird feeders attracted a wonderful assortment of birds, to watch as we sat outside. We had our puppy, Lucille, with us and the balcony was great for her. There were other dog lovers there, which was fun. We used the pool, the takeaway, the shop and the bar: all good. Too wet to use the tennis or football outdoor facilities, but good to know they were there. It was a good place to explore The Lakes from and we travelled each day. Saw a fabulous production of "Great Expectations" at the Theatre on the Lake in Keswick. Explored the visitors' centre at Brokole, which is almost next door and had many things to do."

"We had a lovely stay in this clean and cosy cottage. Liked the location, very central for southern lakes"
    - meannieb, September 2014
"We stayed at Striding Edge for a week in September. The lodge was perfect, it was well maintained in a lovely, peaceful location. Previously we have found that some self catering accommodation has the bare minimum when it comes to kitchen equipment, this wasn't the case with Striding Edge, the kitchen had everything you could need for a perfect self catering stay, this is especially important with a toddler and baby in tow. The lodge was spacious with good sized rooms. The extra little touches like games, colouring and books meant that our daughter always had something to do. The location was great as a base for exploring the Lake District but with a decent swimming pool, gym and park we weren't short of things to do if we stayed 'home' for the day. All in all we would highly recommend this lodge and hopefully will be visiting again soon."
    - michb26, December 2014
"Just back from an amazing week away in this cottage and had the best time. Ideally situated to explore the Lake District with lots to do on site also such as a swimming pool, games area, play parks, forest and lake areas and a bar. The cottage was very cosy, warm, welcoming and well equipped with lots of lovely personal touches like toys and games, children's drawing stuff and low lighting. Loved it, well equipped kitchen and rooms, cosy beds and couches. We had 2 dogs with us who also loved it immediately. I can't wait to go again. Had to contact owner by email and they could not have been nicer or more helpful. I would absolutely recommend this cottage for a fantastic family holiday"
    - Mr Venkatesan, September 2016
"Very nice and cosy cottage, well maintained and decorated and at a very convenient location. Double bed was a bit short for tall people. I am 6'3" and had my feet hanging out while sleeping. Otherwise, couldn't have been more perfect. Wish we had stayed there for longer. The main negative is that the leisure facilities (swimming pool, sauna and steam room) are open till 7 pm only with last entry at 6 30 pm. It would be great if it was open till 8 or 9 pm where people could relax after a long day of walking and traveling."

"I cannot recommend Striding Edge Lodge highly enough. My partner I and our baby have had the best time staying here. The lodge is so lovely, clean, very homely and has such a cosy feel to it. The owners Jan and Rod have really taken care of their guests by providing everything you need to really feel at home. Including a bookshelf packed full of books, DVDs and board games for typical Lake District rainy days. We've loved sitting watching the birds from the living room window on the bird feeder. It's in the heart of the Lakes so has been easy to get to and from various nearby spots such as Ambleside and Windermere where we've had some lovely days out. The site it's based on has some fab facilities such as a swimming pool and bar/ restaurant that does lovely reasonably priced food. Oh and if you fancy a takeaway pizza we got one delivered from the local Sourdough pizza in Ambleside which was delicious! Also recommend Daisy's Cafe in Ambleside Town centre for a really good breakfast. We will definitely be back."
    - Mrs Halliwell, November 2018
"We think the cabin numbers could be made more clearer to see as you approach each one, perhaps the number and name of the lane on the side of the cabin especially if you arrive in the dark it took us ages, but it didn't help when reception told us to go right when we should have kept left from the barriers, but we found it eventually, we all had a very enjoyable stay and would recommend to friends"
    - Mrs Kitchen, August 2018
"Really enjoyed the holiday, the location is fantastic and really dog friendly, the cabin in really warm, just found a few cobwebs and spiders inside near windows but u r in woods so that could be why, would deff recommend"

"Bitter cold and snow when we were there but to come back to a lovely warm lodge which had everything you needed in it. Also catered so well for children with games/books/pens etc. So much thought put in by the owners. Would definitely recommend. Unfortunately for us our dog was poorly and couldn't take her and then my granddaughter was poorly so the family couldn't come either. Ended up just myself and my husband and I was so upset things didn't go to plan. We came home Sunday so one day early with them being poorly too. But cannot take anything away from the cottage. Only thing I would mention of the entertainment complex is that its not that big. I wouldn't like to see how busy it would be in school holidays but staff are lovely."

The birds were fascinating Could do with a good clean as quite a few cobwebs about - might be being picky. The sink in the kitchen needs sorting as the draining board drain was blocked and beginning to smell. If we had been there longer we would have sorted. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay. Thanks very much for a great few days."
